Retainer: 20k ZAR per month
Term: Freelance Contract, 37.5 hours per week

Are you a proactive, detail-oriented marketing professional looking to kickstart your career in a fast-paced B2B environment? Newton Media is looking for a Marketing Assistant to join our team in a remote capacity within South Africa.
As the driving force behind our communications and event promotions, you will play a critical role in maintaining our professional brand presence across multiple channels. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 1-2 years of experience to grow their skills in email marketing, social media management, and data reporting within the publishing and events industry.
What You Will Be Doing
Your day-to-day will be a dynamic mix of creative production and operational support:
- Email Marketing: Build, test, and distribute high-quality campaigns using Mailchimp or Constant Contact, ensuring everything is error-free and on-brand
- Social Media: Draft and schedule daily content across all brands, optimising posts based on performance analytics
- Event & Awards Support: Create essential collateral like speaker packs, sponsor guides, and social media banners for our large-scale industry events
- Digital Management: Build functional landing pages to drive lead generation and manage webinars via platforms like BrightTalk
- Reporting: Update weekly and monthly dashboards to track email and social performance, helping us understand what resonates with our audience
Requirements
What we are looking for
- Experience: 1-2 years in a marketing or administrative role is essential. Previous B2B, publishing, or events experience is a major plus
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills with an eagle eye for detail
- Technical Savvy: Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets and eager to learn new marketing automation tools
- Creativity: A flair for visual design (experience with Canva is great!) and the ability to strictly follow brand guidelines
- Mindset: A "can-do" attitude, a proactive approach to tasks, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
