We are looking for a Graphic Designer to join our digital and creative team and help create world-class user focused creative across a variety of channels.

An ideal candidate is someone who can take a creative brief and build new and fully thought-out concepts from conceptualization to execution. As a creative, you not only design beautiful assets but also have a strong understanding of brands and users. You are able to think of innovative ways to use graphic design to our client’s advantage, telling their brand story and meeting their objectives.

Working in a collaborative environment, you’ll be executing on fast-paced work across a multitude of deliverables from social media and digital assets to packaging design and brand ideation. This role will also require you to communicate well and take initiative to drive projects independently.

ruckus Digital is a fiercely independent Canadian digital marketing communications agency. We’re especially motivated by agile, creative and edgy thinking and work best when tackling the unconventional.

What the Graphic Designer will be doing at ruckus:

  • Building creative assets using a blend of your skills in graphic design, motion graphics, photo editing and illustration. Including assets for digital and web, print, and video.
  • Using your design expertise to recommend creative and strategic ideas that meet client objectives and reach audiences.
  • Working with the public relations/social teams to identify opportunities for adding value to clients by improving creative elements or finding new ways to use design to reach audiences.
  • Assisting with visual design for websites and web applications for our clients. From building wireframes and design standards to creating web creative assets and uploading content to existing content management systems.
  • Spearheading creative for internal marketing, brand, and sales initiatives. This includes creating infographics, working with photography, building templates, and other document production.
  • Working with-and occasionally building-brand and identity guidelines for clients and APEX/ruckus Digital, while also being a brand guardian and ensuring brand standards are upheld.
  • Designing and contributing to client and new business presentations.
  • Presenting and communicating directly with clients to build lasting relationships and working collaboratively across a team of experts to meet client needs.
  • Conducting competitive and comparative design and user research and exploration to enhance our deliverables.
  • 3-5 years professional graphic design experience in an agency setting that includes designing for digital and print, processing motion assets, and building on brand identities.
  • A strong understanding of the core fundamentals of design learned through an educational background in graphic design is an asset, but not mandatory.
  • A compelling portfolio that showcases your body of work.
  • Expertise in using Adobe creative suite products (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, XD, InDesign, Premier) and presentation tools (Word, PowerPoint, Google Slides).
  • Experience with video editing and building motion graphics, animations, and 3D modelling.
  • Proficient understanding of web prototyping platforms (Figma, XD, Axure).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent typography, illustration, and infographic design skills. Especially when it comes to designing data-heavy materials.
  • An understanding of photography, photo editing, and processing.
  • Experience with using data and a strong understanding of users to guide creative decisions.
  • A strong understanding of how to design for accessibility.

    • APEX PR/ruckus Digital is committed to offering competitive pay for the role and experience that the candidate brings. The salary range for this full-time role is $50, – $70, depending on experience.
