The Prague Civil Society Centre is a non-profit organisation that supporting civil society, independent media and democratic changemakers in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia. Designed to operate in the challenging conditions, we do everything we can to support those working towards more open, free, and democratic futures – no matter how far away that may seem today. We believe that a vibrant civil society and independent media are key to this. We work to ensure that activists, journalists, and changemakers of all kinds, many of whom work in highly repressive contexts, get the support they need to push for change, be it grants, capacity building, or connections.

About The Role

As a Communications Officer, you’ll be responsible for getting the word out about us and our work, with a particular focus on content production and social media management. You will also make sure that our communications conform to our communication strategy and brand identity.

This is a role that requires sensitivity to the specific environments we work in as well as the restrictions that working in closed and closing political contexts brings to public communications. With these in mind, you’ll also work on finding creative ways to highlight the extraordinary work and achievements of our partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content creation & production: Lead the end-to-end production of digital content, including short-form video, photography, graphics, and written copy. Adapt messaging and formats to suit the algorithms and audience of the Prague Centre’s social platforms. Ensure a consistent brand voice and visual aesthetic across these.
  • Social media management & platforms’ development: Develop and implement consistent social media content calendar in line with the Centre’s communication strategy. Stay ahead of emerging digital trends, platform algorithm updates, and viral opportunities to keep the brand relevant.
  • Community engagement & growth: Foster connections with the audience by monitoring channels and responding to comments, tags, and direct messages in real-time.
  • Analytics & reporting: Monitor and analyse social media metrics across all Centre’s social platforms. Utilise data-driven insights to optimise our content.
  • Contribute to the Communications team’s planning and organisation of both public and closed events in Prague and/or European capitals to increase the Centre’s visibility and engagement with different audiences.
  • Manage documentation and archiving directly linked to the scope of the role and in accordance with organisational policies and contractual obligations.
  • Perform additional tasks within the scope of the role.

Core Competencies

  • Proficiency in video editing and basic digital design (social media graphics)
  • Proven track record in social media management and/or content creation
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Czech and/or additional relevant regional language is an asset
  • Proactive person with an eye for spotting communication opportunities
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and timelines with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a multi-national team
  • Candidate should be based in Czechia, or have access to the EU labour market

The salary is based on the Prague Civil Society Centre’s salary scale, with an expected gross monthly range of CZK 48,000-55,000 for a full-time position (40 hours per week), depending on skills and experience.
