Overview

Social Media Manager & Creator Jobs in Auckland, New Zealand at Vessev

At Vessev, we're defining a new way to move on the water: electric hydrofoiling vessels that are genuinely better for people and the planet. With strong momentum, orders across the globe, and major milestones ahead, we're looking for a senior social all-rounder to help shape how we show up in the world.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the presence of a category-defining, Kiwi startup from the earliest stage. There's so much scope to make this role your own, and we want you to create something you're insanely proud of.

You'll be joining a small and tight-knit marketing team that is deeply passionate about what we do, and how we can help set a better world in motion.

The role

This is a role for a rare kind of social media marketer who can build a social strategy and then bring it to life themselves. You'll own our social channels end-to-end from the strategy and planning to the creation and day-to-day management.

Content at Vessev is quality over quantity and our approach is grand but authentic. The creative side of this role combines high quality content creation (shooting and editing) with a knack for social storytelling and visual direction.

Video and photography is becoming an increasingly important part of how we tell the Vessev story, and we want this person involved in shaping how it looks and feels. You'll help us define our creative direction for social and how we use video to tell our story to the world.

We're looking for a senior all-rounder – someone with strong creative instincts, proven social expertise, and the confidence to bring a creative point of view to everything we make.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Social strategy: Building and owning the channel strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Visual identity: Developing the Vessev look and feel for social and ensuring this comes to life across all our content
  • Video storytelling: Helping to build our social video strategy including how and where we use video to tell stories
  • Content creation: Planning, filming, and editing polished short-form video and photo content to a high standard. You'll shoot a lot of this yourself, and brief in the wider team when you need more production support
  • Platform management: Owning the posting schedule, day-to-day channel management, community management, and content optimisation for each platform
  • Copywriting: Writing clear, engaging captions and copy that feels authentic and on brand
  • Reporting and insights: Tracking performance, sharing what's working, and using data to improve over time

About you

You don't need to be an expert in marine, hydrofoiling, or electric transport. What matters most is that you're intelligent, willing to muck in, and care about doing meaningful work.

You're a senior social creative and marketer who knows how to create hype and tell meaningful stories through social media. You're naturally curious and take the time to understand how things work. You'll be as interested in the engineering of our foils as you are in the engagement on a post.

We're looking for someone with

  • 5+ years' experience in social media management and content creation
  • A strong portfolio of polished short-form video content
  • Proven experience owning and managing social channels end-to-end
  • Strong visual instincts and an eye for what looks great on camera and on screens
  • The ability to shoot and edit to a high standard
  • Excellent copywriting skills and a natural feel for brand voice
  • Enough curiosity to get under the skin of technical subject matter and craft it into content people actually want to watch
  • A strong work ethic and a can-do attitude. We all roll up our sleeves, and no job's too big or small
  • A collaborative mindset. You work well with others and care about doing great work together
  • A genuine desire to work on something that's meaningful and future-focused

About us

We're here to set a better world in motion – cleaner air, better commutes, and deeper connections with nature and each other. Our hydrofoiling electric vessels use up to 90% less energy than traditional boats, unlocking entirely new opportunities.

We're backed by top-tier investors including Blackbird Ventures, and our team includes talent from the America's Cup, Rocketlab, Halter, Apple, and leading climate startups. But titles don't matter. What matters is how we show up: with purpose, humility, and a restless optimism for what's possible.

We're office-first but not office-only. We believe in building together, in person, where the real magic happens. That said, we trust our team to do what's right and we know life isn't one-size-fits-all.

Why our people love Vessev

  • We're building something different – from how we move on the water to the kind of team and workplace we're creating
  • The chance to work on technology that can drive real, lasting impact in the world
  • A team of exceptional and collaborative humans
  • 20 weeks fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers, and 4 weeks for secondary (conditions apply)
  • Competitive salaries that reflect the value of the work
  • Being on the water is part of our job – from trips on our vessels to our offices that border the Tamaki River
  • And if the water's where you want to be, you'll be in good company. You'll find no shortage of boaters, beach goers, sailors, foilers, surfers, and kiteboarders here

To apply, please send us your CV and a short cover letter that gives us a sense of who you are and why this role feels like the right fit.

If you see yourself doing great work here but don't tick every box, we'd still love to hear from you. We're building a team where everyone has the chance to do their best work.
