About the position
Whittingham Sports is seeking a Full-Time Social Media Manager to support day-to-day planning, content creation, and publishing operations across client channels. This position is built for a proven storyteller who lives online, understands internet subcultures, and thrives in the chaos of live sports.
Serving as a player-coach, you will help run the day-to-day workflow of the social department , leading a dedicated team of coordinators and community managers while staying hands-on with live content production and creative direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-Day Operations: Run day-to-day client social workflows, ensuring alignment between high-level strategy, creative execution, and deadlines.
- Team Leadership: Directly manage and mentor the Social Media Coordinator and Community Manager roles to ensure cohesive brand voices and seamless publishing.
- Content Calendars & Sourcing: Oversee the master social calendar while actively sourcing historical, viral, and user-generated footage to maximize content output.
- Creative Briefing: Write sharp, detailed creative briefs for videographers, editors, and graphic designers to bring high-impact visual assets to life.
- On-Site Content Production: Shoot high-impact mobile content on-site at live events, managing real-time capture, footage organization, and narrative delivery .
- Asset Organization: Systematically organize raw footage and event capture to build a highly functional, accessible archive for the agency.
- Community Management: Oversee and support active community interaction across channels, finding tactical opportunities to insert our brands into the conversation .
- Performance Optimization: Track social performance and platform metrics to optimize content based on real-time audience behavior.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of professional social media or content management experience, ideally in sports, entertainment, or agencies.
- Heavily culture-obsessed, internet-fluent, and deeply embedded in wrestling and combat sports culture.
- Proven ability to grow audiences, develop content calendars, and write clear creative briefs.
- Comfortable filming, directing moments, and managing asset organization in fast-moving live event environments.
- Fluent across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills alongside strong leadership instincts.
- High energy, resilient, and highly flexible—built for travel and live sports environments.
- Ability to travel to events on a monthly / bi-monthly bases (Typically Wednesday-Sunday).
Preferred Skills
- Advanced video editing experience (CapCut, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Meta Business Suite).
- Advanced graphic design experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or similar tools).
