About the Role

GRO is a fast-growing, full-service boutique marketing agency based in Evansville, IN, serving clients nationwide across multiple industries with a strong foothold in the dental vertical. We deliver social media strategy, content creation, paid advertising, web development, and AI-powered marketing solutions — and we are looking for a Director of Social Media who is ready to own the department entirely.

This is a senior leadership role with full ownership over the social media department — its people, its processes, its performance, and its strategic direction. The ideal candidate is both a big-picture strategist and a hands-on operator — someone who can set the vision, lead a team to execute it, and show up for clients as a trusted, high-level partner. This is not a role for someone looking to execute someone else's playbook. We want someone who brings one of their own.

Responsibilities

Department Leadership & Operations

  • Lead, manage, and continuously refine the structure, workflows, and operations of the social media department.
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop social media team members at all levels, fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, and growth.
  • Approve all social media content internally prior to publishing, maintaining quality and brand alignment across every account.
  • Host monthly continued education and training sessions to keep the team sharp, current, and performing at a high level.
  • Manage key Tier 1 accounts directly, ensuring the highest standard of strategy and execution.
  • Drive the overall social media direction for GRO as a company.

Strategy, Growth & Performance

  • Own the growth strategy for all client social media accounts, developing content structures, posting frameworks, and engagement strategies that deliver measurable results.
  • Stay ahead of platform trends, algorithm changes, and emerging content formats — and translate those insights into action across the department.
  • Monitor performance across all accounts and continuously refine strategies to drive consistent, compounding improvement.
  • Ensure captions, hashtags, and copy follow best practices for discovery, reach, and growth across all platforms.

Client Strategy & Onboarding

  • Lead the social media onboarding process for every new client, setting the strategic foundation from day one.
  • Serve as the primary client-facing strategist for social media, working directly with clients to plan, align, and execute content approaches that move the needle.
  • Translate client goals into clear, actionable direction for internal teams.

Content Oversight & Media Production

  • Oversee content planning and execution across all social platforms, maintaining consistent creative standards and brand alignment.
  • Join the media team for in-person client content days to capture and direct social media content firsthand.
  • Ensure every client has a clear, organized process and dedicated internal point of contact for ongoing content collection.

Tools, Technology & Systems

  • Own and manage the full social media tech stack including Monday.com, Cloud Campaign, Canva, Adobe Suite, Shutterstock, Dropbox, Envato Elements, and Poster My Wall.
  • Ensure tools are used efficiently, consistently, and to their full potential across the department.
  • Continuously optimize internal systems for planning, approvals, scheduling, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading a social media team or department, preferably within an agency environment
  • Deep understanding of social media strategy, content performance, and platform-specific best practices across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest
  • Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with the GRO tech stack or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and manage a robust set of tools
  • A creative eye paired with a strategic mind — someone who can zoom out to see the big picture and zoom in to make sure every detail is right
  • Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Willingness to travel for in-person client content days
