About The Role

The Assistant or Associate Product Copywriter within the A&F Creative Marketing team plays a vital role in shaping the narrative of our products through compelling and on-brand descriptions. This position involves crafting engaging product descriptions for online platforms across various categories, including adult, kids, baby/toddler, and YPB. The role requires close collaboration with merchandising, design, and site teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and brand integrity. The successful candidate will possess a strong passion for fashion, excellent copywriting skills, and a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities include developing unique product names, writing editorial content to define collections, and maintaining a cohesive voice across all product categories. The role also involves staying current with fashion trends, competitive research, and contributing to seasonal campaign concepts. The ideal applicant is curious, energetic, collaborative, and committed to elevating the brand through innovative and precise storytelling that resonates with our target audience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Advertising, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of copywriting experience, preferably in retail or product marketing
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong editing, grammar, and creative writing skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce concise, impactful copy
  • Strong understanding of fashion terminology and trends
  • Basic knowledge of marketing principles and brand voice development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Teams; familiarity with Mural and PIM systems is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
  • Open to constructive feedback and quick to adapt
  • Passion for fashion and familiarity with our brands and competitors

Responsibilities

  • Write engaging, accurate, and on-brand product descriptions for A&F, Kids, Baby/Toddler, and YPB collections
  • Maintain consistency in copy structure, tone, and voice across all product categories and brands
  • Ensure all product descriptions comply with legal standards and accurately reflect product features
  • Collaborate with site merchandising teams to deliver a seamless customer experience
  • Develop unique and compelling product names, including on-product marketing (OPM) and collection identifiers
  • Create editorial language to define collections and highlight key items on-product
  • Partner with design teams to execute hangtags and OPM concepts that align with brand standards
  • Own the color naming process in collaboration with the studio team, ensuring consistency and creativity
  • Stay informed on current fashion trends, industry language, and competitor product naming strategies
  • Assist in communicating key OPM moments through seasonal campaign development
  • Revise and edit copy based on leadership feedback, product updates, and market trends
  • Conduct competitive research to inform and enhance copywriting strategies
  • Participate in team collaborations to foster knowledge sharing, culture strengthening, and subject matter expertise
