Northern Spruce Media is looking for a Lead Content Creator to join our growing creative team. This role is ideal for someone who is highly creative, organized, experienced behind the camera, confident with clients, and ready to step into a leadership position.
The Lead Content Creator will work directly with Northern Spruce Media and external clients to plan, direct, shoot, edit, and deliver high-quality creative content. This person will also help lead a small creative team, support systems and workflow development, research new trends, and bring fresh ideas to client projects.
About the Role
As our Lead Content Creator, you will be responsible for bringing creative projects to life from concept to final delivery. You should be confident directing shoots, working with clients, quoting creative jobs, managing expectations, and leading team members through the production process.
This role requires someone who can take creative direction while also contributing their own ideas, stay organized across multiple projects, and communicate clearly with both clients and the internal team.
Responsibilities
- Direct, shoot, and edit creative content for Northern Spruce Media and external clients
- Work directly with clients to understand project goals, creative needs, and expectations
- Lead a small creative team on shoots and during project execution
- Help quote creative jobs and understand project scope, timelines, and deliverables
- Operate Sony camera systems confidently
- Edit high-quality content using Final Cut Pro
- Use AI creative tools such as Higgsfield and other emerging AI software
- Research new trends, content styles, platforms, and creative ideas for shoots
- Develop creative concepts, shot lists, production plans, and content strategies
- Take creative direction and apply feedback professionally
- Support the development of internal systems, workflows, and creative processes
- Keep projects organized from pre-production to final delivery
- Maintain strong communication with clients, leadership, and team members
- Ensure content aligns with brand standards, client goals, and current creative trends
- Help mentor, guide, and support junior creatives as the department grows
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in content creation, videography, photography, or a related creative production role
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
- Strong experience directing, shooting, and editing content
- Confident working directly with clients
- Comfortable quoting jobs and discussing creative project scope
- Experience leading or supporting a small creative team
- Strong knowledge of Sony camera systems
- Strong editing experience in Final Cut Pro
- Experience using Higgsfield and other AI creative tools, or a strong willingness to learn and adapt quickly
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Great communication skills
- Strong leadership qualities
- Ability to take initiative and solve problems independently
- Willingness to grow with a team and help build a department
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client expectations
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, content trends, and brand storytelling
- Professional, reliable, and confident in client-facing situations
Nice to Have
- Experience with real estate, lifestyle, event, tourism, food and beverage, or brand content
- Experience creating content for social media campaigns
- Basic understanding of marketing strategy, paid ads, or content performance
- Experience creating reels, short-form videos, brand videos, interviews, and promotional content
- Experience building production workflows or managing creative systems
- Drone experience or drone licence is an asset
- Photography experience is an asset

Compensation
Starting salary: $60,000 per year
Vacation: 10 paid vacation days
