Head of Merchandising Jobs in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India at Mani Jewel

Key Responsibilities: 

Strategic Planning & Product Development: 

• Involvement from sketch to finish for all proto/samples including CAD finalize. 

• Define the overall merchandising strategy aligned with brand vision and business goals. 

• Lead the development of seasonal and annual jewellery collections based on market research, trend forecasts, and customer insights. • Build assortment plans for each channel. 

Team Leadership & Management: 

• Manage and mentor a team of merchandisers, designers, and coordinators. 

• Allocate responsibilities and ensure timely delivery of product launches. 

• Foster collaboration across design, production, and sales teams. 

Market & Competitor Analysis: 

• Conduct domestic market research to identify jewellery trends, consumer behavior, and new opportunities. • Monitor competitor collections, pricing, and positioning to ensure market relevance. 

Costing, Pricing & Profitability: 

• Oversee product costing, pricing, and margin analysis to ensure profitability. 

• Approve cost sheets and pricing strategies for new launches. 

• Monitor performance of each category (gold, diamond jewellery). 

Inventory & Supply Chain Management: 

• Drive inventory planning, replenishment, and stock optimization across stores and channels. 

• Work with supply chain and production teams to ensure timely execution and delivery. 

• Minimize stock-outs and slow-moving inventory through proactive planning. 

Sales & Marketing Support: 

• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to create merchandising calendars, promotions, and launches. • Provide product training to retail teams for effective customer engagement. 

• Prepare and deliver impactful presentations on trends, collections, and business performance to management and external stakeholders. • Ensure alignment of product positioning with marketing campaigns. 

 Business Reporting & Analysis: 

• Analyze sell-through reports, category performance, and market trends to drive business decisions.

• Prepare periodic reports for management with actionable insights. 

• Recommend strategies to maximize revenue, market share, and profitability. 

Key Skills & Competencies: 

• In-depth knowledge of jewellery categories, manufacturing processes, and global trends. 

• Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills. 

• Excellent analytical and commercial acumen. • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills. 

• Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and merchandising analytics. • Creative mindset with a keen eye for aesthetics and consumer preferences. 

Qualification & Experience: 

• Graduate/Postgraduate in Jewellery Design. • 10+ years of experience in merchandising within the jewellery/ luxury industry, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.  • Experience in the domestic market is preferred.
