Creative Strategy Director [210928] Jobs in London Area, United Kingdom at Aquent

Creative Strategy Director (Entertainment & IP)

Location: West London (Hybrid, 3 days/week)

Contract Type: Freelance / Monthly Rolling

Day Rate: Up to £625 per day (Inside IR35)

Start Date: July 2026

Are you ready to shape how Europe’s biggest entertainment titles live, travel, and capture cultural fandoms? We are partnering with a world-renowned entertainment and broadcasting pioneer to secure a freelance Creative Strategy Director. This isn’t about managing basic ad schedules; it’s a specialist role where you will own the long-term creative and brand strategy for massive entertainment IP – defining the narrative “worlds” of premium shows from script phase through to multi-season returns.

What’s in it for you?

  • Unrivalled Access: Work completely upstream within a multi-award-winning in-house creative hub, enjoying true proximity to commissioning teams, studios, and show creators.
  • World-Class Campus: Based at a premier West London media hub featuring incredible employee amenities (subsidised restaurants, on-site gym, private cinema, and free dedicated shuttle links).

What You’ll Be Doing

  • IP Stewardship: Owning and evolving the long-term creative strategy across a vast entertainment portfolio (Drama, Comedy, Film, Factual), building “franchise thinking” for returning tentpole titles.
  • Ruthless Simplification: Distilling complex show profiles and conflicting stakeholder opinions into linear, beautifully simple creative direction for production teams.
  • Executive Sparring Partner: Standing your ground, challenging assumptions, and presenting compelling strategic visions directly to C-suite and board-level executives.
  • Campaign & Visual Architecture: Delivering foundational creative briefs, show brand identities, and consistent campaign communications that hold across marketing, partnerships, and platforms.

What You’ll Bring

  • Scale Entertainment Pedigree: Proven experience driving creative strategy or brand planning for high-profile shows, films, or major entertainment networks.
  • Genre Fluency: A deep, intuitive understanding of how audience expectations, marketing codes, and creative levers differ between a high-end drama, a comedy, or a factual release.
  • Ego-Free Collaboration: A philosophy built on “doing the homework rather than showing it”—you win by being useful, highly collaborative, and inspiring creative teams without hiding behind theoretical jargon.
  • High-Pressure Gravitas: Exceptional presentation skills and the psychological ability to “read the room” and navigate complex organisational matrix dynamics.

Deadline: Thursday, 18th June 2026

  • This role is open for a limited time. Next steps will be shared with shortlisted candidates ASAP. Due to the high volume of applicants, we may be unable to reply to each applicant individually.
