Creative Director – Lake Tahoe Proper & Dallas Proper Jobs in United States at Proper Hospitality

Proper Hotels is seeking a Creative Director to own the brand identity of two of its most significant upcoming properties, Lake Tahoe Proper and Dallas Proper, from pre-opening through launch and beyond. This is a hands-on creative role: the right candidate is a working graphic designer with senior leadership experience, equally comfortable producing work themselves as they are setting creative strategy. This is not a purely directorial position. Fluency with AI creative tools is required.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Brand & Creative, the Creative Director oversees all creative output across both properties and every department, including F&B, spa, retail, racquet, adventure, membership, partnerships, and sales. You’ll manage the relationship with the creative agency and Kelly Wearstler’s team, ensuring every touchpoint reflects a cohesive vision expressed distinctly across two properties with their own identities.

*While the role supports two property openings, it can be based remotely, with anticipated travel to Lake Tahoe Proper approximately once per month.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Brand & Identity

  • Lead naming and identity development for all venues and spaces across both properties, working with the creative agency and Kelly Wearstler’s team
  • Establish and maintain brand standards and guidelines that hold across two distinct properties
  • Ensure creative consistency across every guest-facing and investor-facing touchpoint
  • Execute graphic design work directly; this role requires hands-on production alongside creative direction, with an ability to leverage AI tools to work efficiently

Pre-Opening & Investor Relations

  • Develop co-branded merchandise, investor welcome packages, and prospect-facing materials for both properties
  • Direct the Cal Neva 100 Summer 2026 program: 10+ investor and member events with custom invitations, collateral, signage, and post-event content
  • Produce membership acquisition materials and ongoing communications through opening

Marketing & Content

  • Run social media and email content programming across both properties, always-on across all channels
  • Direct photography and video for all venues, lifestyle, spa, retail, racquet, and adventure programming
  • Develop and maintain the full website presence for both properties through and beyond opening

Sales & Partnerships

  • Create sales collateral for property, venue, membership, events, and group sales
  • Develop pitch decks and co-branded materials for prospective and confirmed partners
  • Support partnership activations with collateral, signage, photography, and recaps

Physical & Environmental

  • Direct all construction-period fencing and hoarding signage for both properties
  • Oversee creative direction for uniforms, merchandise, retail, spa packaging, and the in-room experience
  • Guide the membership app creative from concept through full realization

Agency & Team Management

  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with the creative agency and Kelly Wearstler’s team
  • Ensure brand consistency, timely approvals, and smooth handoffs across all partners

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 8+ years of creative leadership experience at a hospitality, lifestyle, or luxury brand, ideally through a property or brand launch
  • Proven ability to hold a brand vision at the highest level while managing execution across many concurrent workstreams
  • Experience managing external creative agencies and high-profile design partners
  • A strong graphic design portfolio demonstrating hands-on production ability; able to produce polished work independently, not just direct others
  • Strong editorial sensibility across visual identity, print, digital, photography, video, and environmental design
  • Fluency across hospitality brand touchpoints including F&B, membership, retail, events, and the guest experience
  • Comfortable in a pre-opening environment: building systems, deciding with incomplete information, and moving fast without sacrificing quality
  • Collaborative, low-ego style; this role succeeds through influence as much as authority

THE TIMELINE

This role spans the full arc of both properties:

  • Now – Summer 2027: Lake Tahoe pre-opening execution; Dallas brand foundation begins in parallel
  • December 2027: Lake Tahoe full opening, with all venues, programming, and creative systems at scale
  • 2028: Dallas pre-opening ramp, applying lessons from Lake Tahoe to a distinct market and identity
  • 2029: Dallas Proper full opening

Salary

  • $150,000-175,000
