Assistant Editor Jobs in Brussels, Brussels Region, Belgium at The Parliament

The Parliament Magazine is looking for a Brussels-based Assistant Editor to help shape the next chapter of our journalism.

This is a creative editorial role with three main areas of focus. First, you'll work with our newsroom to develop new ways of telling stories across digital, social and print. Whether it's experimenting with new formats, sharpening how we present our reporting or finding fresh ways to engage readers, you'll help us make our journalism more ambitious and impactful.

Second, you'll play a key role in producing and developing our monthly print magazine. Alongside copy editing, proofreading and supporting the publication process, you'll help us continually improve the magazine as a product — from how stories are told to how the issue comes together.

Finally, you'll work closely with our events team to build stronger connections between our journalism and our live events. That means shaping editorial around conferences and debates, finding new ways to bring our reporting into live discussions and developing formats that extend the life and reach of both.

It's a role for someone who enjoys thinking creatively about journalism, thrives on variety and wants to help shape not just great stories, but how they're told.

Key responsibilities:

  • Help develop new storytelling formats and editorial products across digital, print and social media
  • Write and sharpen copy across print, social media, newsletters and other editorial channels
  • Copyedit, proofread and help produce our monthly print magazine
  • Work with the events team to build stronger editorial links around conferences, debates and other live events

Requirements:

  • Experience in journalism, preferably covering EU affairs or broader European politics
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with an instinct for clear, engaging storytelling
  • A keen eye for detail, accuracy and consistency
  • Comfortable working across digital, print and social media
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and thrive in a small, fast-moving newsroom
  • Exceptional command of written and spoken English
