St. John’s School is seeking a full-time Visual Arts teacher. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with upper school students (grades 9-12). Visual Art teachers n’s work together to create a cohesive curriculum. In addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates must demonstrate a collaborative spirit and a commitment to furthering the School’s mission, including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion.
Primary responsibilities:
- Teach a variety of Visual Arts courses in Upper School
- Demonstrate proficiency with Studio 2D Art, 3D Art, and/or Digital Media
- Proficiency with other artforms including architecture or photography, a plus
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art/Art Education;
Master’s or Master of Fine Arts in Art, Studio Art, or Art Education with graduate hours in the teaching specialty preferred - Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
- Experience teaching a variety of art forms (painting, sculpture, metals, printmaking, photography, film, digital art, architecture), a plus
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
