Overview

Virtual Camera Artist / Virtual Camera Operator (Unreal Engine) Jobs in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia at PROXi Vision

Location: Gold Coast, QLD (Preferred) | Brisbane, Northern NSW | Remote considered for exceptional candidates

Company Description PROXi Vision is a realtime visualization unit within PROXi Virtual Production, collaborating closely with a world-class action design team for film. The team specializes in turning complex, action-driven sequences into clear, executable plans before physical cameras roll. We work at a fast pace with a highly collaborative team of creatives, focused on getting high-quality work out the door quickly.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Gold Coast, QLD for a Virtual Camera Artist / Virtual Camera Operator (Unreal Engine). The role involves taking creative direction and clearly translating this into operating virtual cameras within Unreal Engine to visualize complex sequences, translate storyboards and previs into dynamic camera moves, and support directors and action designers in exploring coverage and composition. This role suits someone who is comfortable working with speed and precision, iterating rapidly, responding clearly to feedback, and staying in sync with a production team that moves efficiently from idea to execution.

This isn't a role for someone looking to direct the visual style or reinvent every shot. We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of cinematography who enjoys executing a creative vision with precision, understands film language, takes direction well, and thrives on collaboration.

We work at a fast pace, so you'll need to be adaptable, efficient and comfortable responding quickly to feedback. The ideal candidate enjoys an iterative process, communicates well, and is happy to refine and evolve their work as productions develop.

About You

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong experience creating cinematic camera work in Unreal Engine using Sequencer and Cine Cameras.
  • A solid understanding of cinematography, including lensing, framing, composition, camera movement and visual storytelling.
  • A background in live-action film, virtual production, previs or camera operating is highly regarded.
  • The ability to interpret traditional filmmaking language and translate it into Unreal Engine.
  • A collaborative attitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to take clear direction.
  • The flexibility to adapt your work quickly in a fast-moving production environment.
  • A genuine passion/love for camera work and cinematic storytelling.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and refining cinematic cameras in Unreal Engine.
  • Developing shot coverage, camera movement, framing and lensing for cinematic sequences.
  • Working closely with directors and the wider team to execute a shared creative vision.
  • Iterating quickly based on feedback while maintaining a consistently high standard.
  • Helping establish and maintain a strong cinematic language across our productions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with directors, action designers, animators, and VFX teams, and to interpret storyboards and shot lists.
  • Comfort working on-site in a fast-paced production environment, with strong communication skills and a detail-oriented approach.
  • Familiarity with real-time pipelines and performance optimization in Unreal is an advantage.
  • Background in film, animation, game development, or related fields
  • Demonstrated portfolio or showreel showcasing virtual camera work, previs, or real-time cinematic content is highly desirable.

To Apply

Please send us:

  • Your CV.
  • A link to your showreel or portfolio (required).

We're particularly interested in seeing examples that demonstrate camera work, lensing, composition and cinematic storytelling within Unreal Engine or virtual production pipelines.

If you're passionate about cinematography, love crafting great shots, and enjoy collaborating with a talented team to bring stories to life, we'd love to hear from you!
