Vice President, Men’s Brand & Merchandising
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the VP of Men’s Brand & Merchandising is responsible for leading the overall product and merchandising strategy for all men’s product categories. This leader oversees product strategy, line planning, development, adoption, and go-to-market across channels, serving as the primary link between creative direction, design, product development, production, sales, and marketing to execute the broader brand vision. The role is accountable for leveraging customer insights and market trends to inform decision-making and developing strategic action plans that drive sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and guide strategic direction and high-level assortment plans for the men’s merchandise category, using market intelligence and competitive insights to drive advantage; review and approve initial concept development and ensure assortments meet financial and cost objectives.
- Create, develop, and maintain comprehensive line-planning models across all points of distribution.
- Partner with Design to build a balanced men’s product assortment (including key fabric and category classifications) that aligns with brand standards and achieves margin expectations by channel.
- Collaborate with the executive team to identify key items, category priorities, and growth opportunities.
- Edit the line with Design and Sales to deliver a cohesive, brand-appropriate global assortment while managing product lifecycles, productivity, and profitability.
- Partner with Marketing on product and brand messaging to ensure alignment with investment priorities and maximize commercial results.
- Review and approve style plans and designs that respond to sales needs and emerging trends; work cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, Sales, and Marketing to identify and execute new product opportunities in line with the seasonal time-and-action calendar.
- Oversee men’s merchandising teams to ensure brand cohesion, category leadership, and consistent execution across channels.
- Monitor and manage execution of the market calendar to meet timelines and respond quickly to current business performance.
- Gather and analyze selling and sell-through data to identify risks, opportunities, and action steps.
- Review investment and sales trends to advise on optimal inventory allocation and channel strategies in partnership with senior leadership.
- Lead the budgeting process for brand and merchandising; partner with senior management on forecasting, SKU optimization, and progress toward financial targets.
- Determine wholesale and retail price points that balance competitiveness, perceived value, and quality while achieving target margins.
- Act as a key connector between Sales, Design, Marketing, Planning, Product Development, and Production to ensure cohesive processes and shared accountability across the full consumer experience (Product, Place, Price, Promotion, Planning, Profitability).
- Partner closely with Planning and Sales to inform forecasts for raw materials and units, supporting financial objectives and on-time delivery.
- Lead and participate in presentations to internal teams and customers on seasonal vision, key stories, product features, and commercial focus.
- Regularly shop the market to stay current on trends, competitive positioning, pricing, and broader market dynamics.
- Develop, mentor, and lead the men’s brand and merchandising team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 7–10+ years of merchandising experience within the retail, wholesale, and/or ecommerce apparel industry.
- Strong working knowledge of the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept through delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to make confident, data-informed recommendations and take accountability for achieving business goals.
- Proven experience in talent management, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
- Confident leadership presence with the ability to influence, motivate, and earn trust across all levels of the business.
- Creative, strategic thinker with a strong commercial mindset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with quantitative data.
- Ability to travel as needed to markets, partners, and internal locations.
