THE ROLE
New Metric Media is seeking a VP, Marketing & Communications who will help propel New Metric into the next phase of growth. This is an exciting opportunity for a brand marketing expert with a deep knowledge and love for entertainment brands to lead an energetic, fast-paced team of people committed to driving awareness and engagement for our brands. This individual is someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment and will wear multiple hats given the evolving nature of the organization and be willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done! The successful candidate will be responsible for strategy, planning and execution for our marketing, social and PR initiatives across our content brands, 360o executions (e.g. e-commerce, live tours) and our corporate brand. The ideal candidate has a huge opportunity to make a significant impact to leverage their experience creating, building and managing impactful marketing and PR executions that grow audiences, convert audiences to engaged fans and drive activation across all stages of the consumer journey. You operate with a challenger mentality and will adapt and react to changing market conditions and business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with our broadcast/streaming partners in order to support and sometimes lead their content marketing and on-platform executions
- Convert television watchers into audiences for our shows and consumers of our products with high-impact creative materials, digital stunts/activations, and innovative partnerships
- Work in tandem with each show’s creators and producer to develop a brand vision and identity, tone of voice, holistic content strategies and identify new platform opportunities for each of our content brands
- Develop, plan, manage, and execute a comprehensive marketing and PR strategy to communicate brand story and key messages across channels in order to drive awareness, engagement, viewership and transactions across New Metric’s content brands and ecommerce platforms
- Drive corporate brand positioning, marketing and communications
- Oversee the digital and social media roadmap/calendar from strategic brief through execution to deliver on business priorities
- Create concise, effective marketing plans, creative briefs, campaign budgets and set campaign benchmarks,
- Where needed, select and manage 3rd party marketing and PR agencies
- Conceptualize editorial strategy across key digital and social platforms and help chart path to expanding to additional channels where relevant.
- Create “first of it’s kind” initiatives to move audience into engaged fandom.
- Create, execute and measure effectiveness of marketing campaigns across all platforms, notably social media, web and email
- Coach, empower, and develop a lean and growing team to execute our strategy efficiently and effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of consumer-facing marketing and PR/communications, brand development, and brand building experience
- Proven experience developing both awareness and conversion based integrated marketing and communication strategies across the consumer journey including experience developing and executing paid social media campaigns
- Expert knowledge in digital marketing industry trends, competition and customer buying habits through various channels such as Google, YouTube, Facebook/Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok
- Demonstrable experience utilizing insights, data, and research as part of a brand building and positioning strategy.
- Successful track record building relationships, confidence, and consensus with critical stakeholders (collaborative and flexible).
- Experience and knowledge working with the media
- Exceptional analytical skills; strong focus on ROI
- Highly energetic team player who thrives in a demanding, fast-moving but loosely-structured creative environment
- Entrepreneurial spirit: aptitude for measured risk-taking, exploring unconventional ideas and thinking and the ability to move quickly on new opportunities
- Desire and ability to think both strategically and tactically, seeing the big picture and taking on the hands-on execution that comes with the growth stage that New Metric Media current sits
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Ability to influence key stakeholders, as well as initiate and drive change
- Deep critical thinking skills
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
COMPENSATION
The expected total compensation range for this role is $125,000 – $175,000 CAD, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. Total compensation may include base salary and eligibility for performance-based incentives.
LOCATION & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is based in Toronto and is expected to work primarily from the office, typically four days per week, in line with our collaborative and creative working style. Some flexibility may be available depending on business needs.
