Position: Vancouver Digital Matte Painter for Animation
Join ILM’s Environments team in Vancouver as a Digital Matte Painter, creating vibrant digital environments that enhance feature animation storytelling. Collaborate in a creative, team-oriented setting that embraces diversity.
As a digital matte artist, you will produce high-quality paintings that reflect the film’s mood and tone. Your expertise and three or more years of production experience will help you seamlessly integrate various artistic elements under the guidance of the Matte Painting Lead. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring visual continuity across all sequences.
Key Responsibilities:
• Craft digital matte paintings that align with art direction
• Integrate CG and painted elements into environments
• Collaborate with Environment, Lighting, and Compositing teams
• Develop production-ready environments from concept art
• Maintain visual consistency through iterative feedback
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s in Fine Arts or equivalent experience
• 3+ years in matte painting or related areas
• Proficient in Photoshop and Nuke
• Familiarity with 3D software like Maya or Houdini
• Strong collaborative and communication skills
