Tour Guide Jobs in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands at Sapiens Travel DMC
Company Description
Sapiens Travel DMC is a Virtuoso-preferred B2B luxury tour company based in Amsterdam. We design culturally immersive, quietly luxurious journeys across the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg—and select programs in Iceland—for travel advisors serving discerning FIT clients and small groups. As Amsterdammers, we bring the city’s spirit of openness, creativity, and fun into everything we design. Our work blends cultural depth, sustainability, inclusivity, and polished, white-label service that lets advisors shine.
Role Summary
As an In-House Private Tour Guide, you will deliver white-label, private touring for high-end FIT clients—translating deep knowledge into engaging, conversational storytelling while reading the room and adapting in real time. You’ll steward Sapiens’ standards on discretion, pacing, and guest care, and you’ll coordinate smoothly with our operations team to ensure each day runs on time, with quiet, thoughtful touches.
Our guides are not just tour leaders; they are ambassadors of unforgettable experiences. With their expertise, creativity, and dedication, they transform each journey into a captivating adventure filled with discovery, connection, and lasting memories. We trust our guides to embody the spirit of Sapiens Travel DMC and deliver exceptional experiences that exceed our clients' expectations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guest Experience & Delivery
- Lead half-day and full-day private, white-label tours in Amsterdam and across the Benelux; set a clear plan and maintain calm, punctual execution.
- Craft interactive narratives (no monologues): blend history, art/design, architecture, contemporary life; use maps, objects, museum resources, and short multimedia where helpful.
- Adapt to client rhythm—interests, energy, mobility—prioritizing quality over box-ticking even when tickets are pre-booked.
- Create “Magic Moments” within policy: small, thoughtful gestures.
2. Coordination & Reporting
- Work from Sapiens Team to prepare travel documents, organize confirmed services; align with chauffeurs, museum slots, boats, and restaurants as briefed.
- Flag timing changes and contingencies early; execute calm service recovery when needed.
- Report succinctly post-service: highlights, timings, recommendations, and notes for continuity.
How we Guide
To ensure that each tour is nothing short of extraordinary, we have outlined the following guidelines for our guides:
- Meals with Clients: As a default rule, our guides are expected to decline any invitations to join clients in lunches.
- White Labeled Service: since we are a B2B company, our guides are required to NOT WEAR any branded attire, whether it be from Sapiens or their own company. This ensures a seamless and cohesive experience for our clients, allowing them to focus solely on the destination and the adventure ahead.
- Interactive and Engaging Tours: Gone are the days of monotonous lectures! Our guides are trained to deliver interactive and engaging tours that captivate the attention of our clients. Utilizing storytelling, hands-on experiences, and multimedia resources, our guides bring history and culture to life, fostering a deeper connection with the destination.
- Attentive to Client's Rhythm: Understanding that each client has their own pace and preferences, our guides are attentive to their needs and desires throughout the tour. Whether it's picking up the pace to accommodate a tight schedule or veering off the planned route to explore an unexpected attraction, our guides adapt seamlessly to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all. Even though the tickets are pre-purchased, it is not mandatory to visit all them. Exceptions: Anne Frank House / Van Gogh Museum.
- Departure from Hotel Lobby: To streamline logistics and minimize any potential delays, the departure point for all tours is ALWAYS the hotel lobby. This ensures a convenient and hassle-free start to the day, allowing clients to relax and focus on the upcoming adventure.
- Magic Moments: At Sapiens, we believe in adding a touch of magic to every tour. To surprise and delight our clients, our guides are empowered to offer "Magic Moments" – small perks or gestures that elevate the tour experience. Whether it's treating clients to a cup of coffee at a charming café or arranging a taxi ride back to the hotel, these thoughtful gestures leave a lasting impression. Guides are allotted a discretionary budget of 20 euros (up to 4h tour ) or EUR 30 (up to 8h tour) to facilitate these special moments, ensuring that each tour is infused with an extra sparkle.
- Privacy: We take pride in assuring our clients that their privacy is of paramount importance, and as such, we abstain from showcasing any client information on our social media platforms or in our promotional campaigns. Taking photos with clients and posting them on social media is absolutely forbidden.
