Thinkerbell is looking for an amazing Tinker (Art Director) to join our team of Thinkers and Tinkers in Auckland.
HOW YOU’LL CREATE MEASURED MAGIC
What the hell is a Tinker? We’re glad you asked. Basically, you’re a creative person in the world of advertising. You may have a background in words, or production, or design, or filmmaking, or art direction (or all of the above) – we don’t mind. A Tinker pulls things apart and puts them back together again. They love playing with ideas and bringing them to life. They fiddle and poke and prod until their ideas are working just right. They love coming up with ideas and they love getting those ideas out into the world for everyone else to enjoy.
THE TASK AT HAND
As a Tinker, you will have creative, writing, or visual skills (or preferably all three), a folio/website that shows potential and smart thinking and enough energy and ambition and willingness to give this a red hot crack. You’re fizzing with creative energy. You absolutely love the creative industry we work in, you have shown signs that you’ll be amazing, but your best work is still ahead of you. You will be naturally inquisitive with strong attention to detail and enjoy working alongside a Thinker and within a squad to get shit done. You’ll be solutions oriented, able to form solid relationships with clients and peers, and you’re not afraid to have an opinion.
You'll have three big things to do:
1. LOTS OF CREATIVE THINKING
You love coming up with ideas, and solving problems through creativity. You’re able to have lots of ideas and you have a basic level of understanding around what makes a good idea, good.
2. TAKING CREATIVE LEADERSHIP
You aren’t precious with your ideas yet. You’re willing to be directed and guided as you learn what needs to be done to an idea to shape it the right way.
3. ACT LIKE A CREATIVE, THINK LIKE A CLIENT
Your ideas are creative, but they’re also solving the problem, or answering the needs of the client. You’re able to understand what a client needs, and have the kinds of ideas that will blow them away.

We are an agency of Thinkers and Tinkers and have extensive experience in the worlds of media (paid, owned, earned, and shared), research, strategy, and creative execution. The Institute of Measured Magic is our training and development program where we keep brains sticky with internal and external tailored training throughout the year. We also develop personal Measured Magic Indicators (MMIs are our version of KPIs) to ensure everyone is growing in their role and beyond.
We kick off every week with Measured Mondays, our all agency, super-wip and finish every Friday at 4pm with Magic Hour, where we get creative and weird together.
