Compensation: $25–$45/hour | Equivalent to ~$52,000 – $93,600/year

About the Role
Kroger is seeking a Store Designer to support the planning and development of grocery retail environments across enterprise capital projects.
This role will focus on designing fixture plans, optimizing store layouts, and supporting new builds, acquisitions, expansions, and interior remodel initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong AutoCAD expertise, retail space planning experience, and cross-functional collaboration skills to ensure store designs align with merchandising, operations, construction standards, and corporate objectives.
What You’ll Do
- Provide creative store design solutions aligned with corporate and division merchandising and operations objectives
- Design and develop fixture plans for enterprise capital projects, including new stores, acquisitions, expansions, remodels, and annual initiatives
- Interpret redlines, sketches, and technical direction to produce accurate AutoCAD plans
- Lead scope discussions and plan reviews with cross-functional teams through store walks, meetings, and virtual collaboration
- Manage project schedules, priorities, and timelines for assigned division initiatives
- Maintain project information within Site-Folio and internal databases (plans, schedules, billing data, project lists)
- Coordinate with merchandising, construction, and operations teams to ensure alignment with corporate standards and code guidelines
- Identify opportunities for design and process improvements that enhance store efficiency and customer experience
- Monitor grocery retail industry trends and competitive store design strategies

What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Planning, Interior Design, or related field OR 5+ years of retail store space planning experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Experience managing project timelines and multiple priorities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to construction, fixture design, interior design, merchandising, or retail operations
- Project management experience
- Experience presenting design concepts or solutions to stakeholders
- Direct client or stakeholder interaction experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to guide peers or influence stakeholders
