OnlineKhabar publishes breaking news, features, and multimedia content in Nepali and English. We reach readers across Nepal and globally. But here's the thing—great journalism needs great social media storytelling.
What the role actually is:
You'll take our news stories and turn them into content that works on TikTok, Instagram, Reels, Twitter, LinkedIn—you name it. Some days you'll be writing punchy captions. Other days you'll be creating short videos or working with our design team on graphics. Always adapting. Always thinking about what your audience actually wants to see.
Real responsibilities:
- Writing captions and headlines that fit each platform
- Creating and editing short-form videos and graphics
- Monitoring trends and responding to engagement
- Tracking what works and what doesn't
- Working in sync with journalists and editors
- Meeting deadlines (especially during breaking news)
You should have:
✓ Strong writing skills (English fluent, Nepali preferred)
✓ Experience creating visual content (even basic stuff counts)
✓ Know how different platforms work and who uses them
✓ Understand analytics enough to read engagement data
✓ Bachelor's degree (Communications, Journalism, Marketing, related field) OR proven experience
✓ Portfolio showing your work
✓ News sense—you should actually care about current affairs
✓ Ability to handle feedback and collaborate with teams
Nice to have:
⭐ Prior experience with media/brand accounts
⭐ Video editing skills
⭐ Social analytics knowledge
