About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and culturally aware Social Media Manager to lead our social media presence across targeted African markets. This role will be responsible for localising content, managing social media channels, and driving audience engagement through market-specific campaigns and creative execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow social media presence across assigned African market(s)
- Translate and localise user-generated and marketing content into relevant local language(s)
- Plan, schedule, and publish content across platforms including Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other relevant channels
- Collaborate with design and creative teams to develop region-specific social media assets
- Create and manage content briefs for local campaigns and initiatives
- Track and report on content performance, engagement metrics, and market insights
- Monitor local trends, competitors, and audience behavior to inform strategy
- Coordinate internal workflows and manage content tasks through Jira or similar project tools
Requirements
- Native fluency in the primary language of target African market(s)
- Strong English communication skills
- Proven experience managing social media accounts for brands or businesses
- Deep understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices
- Experience with content localisation and translation
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience using Jira, Trello, Asana, or similar project management tools is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in African regional markets
- Knowledge of local digital/content trends and cultural nuances
- Basic understanding of graphic/content briefing processes
- Experience in short-form video content strategy
