Brand and Role Description

The SIMI Brand Manager is responsible for leading brand strategy, programming execution, and profitability. In short, the role is responsible for growing SIMI.

SIMI is one of California’s most enduring wine brands, founded in 1876 by the two Simi brothers after the California gold rush. After they both died suddenly from influenza in 1904, 18 year old Isabelle Simi led the winery through Prohibition by selling sacramental wine and stockpiling 500,000 cases that she released the moment it ended, earning immediate national acclaim. Her independence became legendary. Quality and resilience have defined SIMI for nearly 150 years. We are honored and incredibly grateful to continue the extraordinary legacy of one of California’s most respected and recognizable brands.

Brand Strategy & Marketing:

  • Leads marketing strategy and program origination
  • Leads development and launch of new packages and styles
  • Creates trade and consumer marketing initiatives on an ongoing basis
  • Develops and manage brand budgets; valuates brand ROI of sales and marketing investments
  • Manages 3rd party agencies as needed (creative, PR, digital, etc.)
  • Partners with non-TBS brands for collaborative opportunities to drive consumer awareness

Sales & Programming Execution:

  • Sets top sales priorities alongside SVP of Sales
  • Educates and trains sales team on key brand initiatives
  • Monitors and supports field sales efforts against these initiatives
  • Identifies data-driven areas for sales to improve performance against the brands (pricing, assortment, account targeting, geographical, etc.)
  • Participates in efforts and penetrate and grow key accounts

Competencies

  • Working knowledge of developing and executing marketing plans and programs across multiple platforms
  • Ability to analytically / statistically evaluate traditional and interactive media, marketing effectiveness, overall sales, and competitive trends
  • Ability to create program goals, messaging, communication, and overall event plans
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in clear concise language; to demonstrate active listening while engaging others; and to establish, implement, and clearly communicate strategies that align with business needs and objectives to gain buy-in from stakeholder
  • Ability to present to key stakeholders in a relevant and compelling manner
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive business relationships (e.g., senior management, stakeholders, other departments, etc.) and foster an environment of mutual respect, understanding, trust, and support
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of stakeholders (e.g., internal and external customers, etc.) in a timely manner
  • Ability to adapt and adjust planned work through analyzing work demands, competing priorities, and tight deadlines; and to understand the most effective and efficient means to accomplish tasks within the parameters of the organizational structure, processes, systems, and policies
  • Works closely with business partners on all the above, including annual business planning
  • Ability to assess situations, provide counsel, and identify solutions that resolve challenges/issues, while considering the best interests of all parties

Work Environment & Travel

This job operates in the TBS office in Charleston or remotely with 15-30% travel.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salaried position.
