A Lot About You
We’re seeking a highly creative Social Video Producer to craft compelling vertical videos for Yahoo’s News, Entertainment and Lifestyle brands — content that’s not just informative, but impossible to scroll past.
We’re looking for someone who can independently produce and edit social-first videos from concept to completion, with a sharp read on internet culture and trending topics across news, entertainment and lifestyle. This role also calls for creative experimentation, from identifying emerging creators to partner with to developing repeatable formats designed for platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
One day, you might be interviewing a fashion creator ranking all the best World Cup uniforms. Next, you could be writing and editing an explainer on NASA’s next mission to the moon. On another day, you might be clipping from a live red carpet event — or attending one of your own with an iPhone and mic kit in hand.
This role requires strong partnerships across editorial teams, including reporters, producers and editors, as well as direct collaboration with external creators and talent. Stellar teamwork, clear communication and strong creative instincts make our content credible, engaging, and most importantly, fun!
Responsibilities
- Video production: Own the video process from start to finish, including scripting, producing, shooting, editing and publishing social-first content. You should be highly fluent in Adobe Premiere and other content creation tools (ie. Canva, Descript, Resolve).
- Talent and creator collaboration: Develop and execute socially-native video concepts featuring creators, celebrities and other talent partners. This may include editing creator-submitted material, producing remote interviews via Riverside or Zoom, or capturing in-person interviews at live events.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with editors, producers and external talent to plan coverage around major tentpole and seasonal events (i.e. award shows, holiday shopping).
- Monitoring trends: Use social listening tools to follow emerging trends and identify timely moments for Yahoo to join the conversation.
- Assessing performance: Monitor video performance and audience response to inform and improve future video content.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience in video production and social programming
- Extensive experience with visual editing tools, including Adobe Premiere, Canva and other relevant programs.
- Proven ability to develop video content that aligns with editorial standards and business goals; experience producing sponsored or branded video content is a plus.
- Solid understanding of analytics and social listening tools, such as Google Trends and Newswhip/Spike to inform story pitches and evaluate video performance.
- Experience collaborating with reporters, editors and producers, as well as external talent and creators, with a strong ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of social platforms and video best practices, including emerging trends and audience engagement strategies.
- Clear, effective communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to adapt content for different platforms and audiences.
