Purpose of the Position

To design and produce visual materials that express the organization’s identity and support its research, cultural, or promotional activities, ensuring high quality and visual consistency that reflect professionalism and credibility.

Duties and Responsibilities

At the Institutional Level

  • Develop visual identity standards and usage guidelines for the institution, its projects, publications, studies, and all forms of external and internal communication, and ensure their proper implementation.
  • Participate in defining departmental requirements from service providers, contribute to their selection, coordinate their work, follow up on execution, and evaluate their performance.
  • Develop concepts for ideas, messages, and campaigns by:
  • Designing and producing visual content and collaborating with staff to create integrated, multi‑format communication materials.
  • Creating visual content using digital art and photography techniques for use in media and social platforms.
  • Prepare visual materials for the website and social media platforms with informative and educational content.
  • Propose design concepts, color schemes, and typography.
  • Translate messages, concepts, and ideas into visual outputs.
  • Support the copywriter in visualizing slogans and campaigns.
  • Adhere to project deadlines and work effectively under time pressure and strict schedules.
  • Archive and organize design materials for future use.
  • Participate in departmental planning and idea generation for communication projects.
  • Provide technical (non‑administrative) supervision of the graphic designer and motion graphics designer to ensure artistic quality and visual consistency.
  • Offer professional guidance and creative and technical feedback without constituting a formal administrative reporting line.
  • Review design and visual outputs from a technical perspective before submission to management.

Conferences and Institutional Activities

  • Design visual identities for conferences and events.
  • Design all promotional materials, including:
  • Posters
  • Invitations
  • Conference programs
  • Display panels and signage
  • Conference newsletters
  • Conference badges
  • Prepare social media designs before, during, and after events.
  • Design presentations for speakers when needed.
  • Follow up on on‑site implementation of designs (banners, stage visuals, screens).
  • Prepare and execute (or supervise vendors executing) the creative direction and production scenarios for institutional events.

Publications and Institutional Outputs

  • Design covers for studies, research reports, policy papers, and periodicals.
  • Develop layout and design templates for research publications in accordance with academic publishing standards (layouts and typography).
  • Design infographics that simplify statistical data and research findings.
  • Collaborate with researchers and relevant staff to accurately translate content into clear, non‑misleading visuals.
  • Monitor production workflows for printed materials to ensure timely completion through coordination with external vendors.
  • Verify printing specifications, conduct final pre‑press reviews, and oversee print quality.
  • Design promotional materials for publications and books.
  • Ensure compliance with publishing standards and intellectual property rights.
  • Propose usage guidelines for printed materials in line with the institution’s visual identity.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or an equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in graphic design.
  • Proficiency in both Arabic and English.
  • Strong command of design software:
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in design‑related software.
  • Solid understanding of visual identity and branding principles.
  • Proficiency in using AI tools for design and production.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects is considered an asset.
