Senior FF&E Designer Jobs in Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR at CCD / Cheng Chung Design
About CCD
Founded in 1994 by acclaimed designer Joe Cheng, CCD is a leading interior design consultancy specialising in international hospitality design. In 2022, CCD ranked No.1 globally on Interior Design magazine’s “Top 10 Hospitality” list, the first Chinese design firm to take the top spot in the list’s 45-year history. The practice holds over 100 international awards, including the Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design, the industry’s highest honour. Our work is driven by narrative, materiality, light and atmosphere, and delivered in close collaboration with colleagues in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The team is hands-on, with designers involved from concept through to delivery.
About the Role
You will lead FF&E on your projects: the concepts, selections, schedules, specifications and procurement coordination that bring each interior to life. Every CCD project is built on a unique concept narrative, and your FF&E schemes are one of the primary ways that story becomes tangible. You will shape guest rooms, suites, public areas and residential spaces, working closely with the interior design team, who lead the spatial design, and staying involved as schemes move into documentation and installation. Day to day, you will take responsibility for FF&E on one or more projects, reporting to the Design Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside interior designers at project inception to develop the concept design narrative and project story across luxury hospitality, residential and development projects.
- Create original concepts for every project; research place, culture, material and brand context so each narrative is authentic, visually specific and distinctive.
- Develop FF&E concepts, palettes and mood imagery that respond to each project’s narrative, graphic language and interior architecture.
- Curate furniture, rugs and accessories, and translate selections into clear schedules and specifications suitable for tender and procurement.
- Identify where the concept calls for bespoke pieces beyond standard market offerings, and prepare clear briefs (function, dimensions, budget, lead time) for the product design team, then integrate the resulting pieces into schedules and specifications.
- Build and present material and sample boards for client workshops and internal reviews, and lead FF&E presentations to clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating pricing, lead times and terms to secure the best value for each project, and keep the studio’s library current and organised.
- Support with value-engineering of FF&E packages with senior designers and procurement partners.
- Contribute to tender and construction documentation related to FF&E and soft finishes.
- Coordinate with procurement, suppliers and contractors to resolve FF&E questions during documentation and on site, including site visits for reviews, mock-ups and installation.
- Oversee FF&E installation as the final design check, ensuring the delivered result matches the approved scheme and the project narrative before handover.
About You
- 5-10 years in interiors, with FF&E responsibility on hotels, resorts, multi-residential or private residential work.
- Qualification in interior design, interior architecture or a related discipline.
- Strong sense of materiality, colour and proportion, with the ability to carry a coherent scheme across an entire project.
- Experience briefing and coordinating custom furniture and joinery, and integrating bespoke pieces into FF&E schedules and specifications.
- Confident presenting FF&E schemes to clients and negotiating with suppliers. • Proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp, and confident working with Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop and InDesign for layouts and presentations); experience with FF&E specification software is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of fabrics, wallcoverings, carpets, furniture and other FF&E elements, and an interest in discovering new makers and brands.
- Well organised, with strong attention to detail and experience managing samples, schedules, budgets and deadlines.
- Able to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of a team, coordinating closely with interior designers and other studio disciplines so FF&E supports the broader spatial concept.
Why Join CCD
• Opportunity to shape FF&E for luxury hotel and high-end residential projects internationally.
• Exposure to a global design practice with studios in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
• A supportive, collaborative team culture that values initiative, craft and a clear point of view.
If this role aligns with your experience in FF&E for luxury hospitality and high-end residential interiors, please apply with your CV and portfolio (including FF&E schemes, palettes and documentation examples), plus a short note on one or two recent projects and what you contributed.
