Senior Designer Jobs in New York, NY at Solomon Page
Our client, a beauty and professional haircare brand, is seeking a Graphic Designer for a freelance/contract opportunity supporting their professional hair stylist-facing brand vision. This is a hands-on, design-heavy role — not an art direction or photo production-first position — ideal for a designer who thrives on variety and can move independently from concept through final production. The role sits within a small, scrappy team and offers exposure to a wide range of deliverables, from print invitations to shoot storyboards to digital assets. This is a hybrid role, three days in-office and two days remote, with an expected duration of up to two years at 40 hours/week.
- This is an ongoing freelance assignment. Pay rate range: $80 / hour
Responsibilities:
- Provide graphic design support across a product line, website, and supporting marketing materials
- Take packaging and promotional layouts from concept through design, mechanicals, comps, and final production
- Work across both 2D and 3D design processes as needed
- Support copywriting for advertising and promotional programs, including developing names and taglines for new products
- Collaborate closely with the Art Director and broader creative team to align on creative direction
- Work independently through full concept-to-production cycles without dedicated production support
- Flex across a wide range of project sizes and types, from small assets to larger campaign deliverables
- Communicate proactively, flagging potential issues early and engaging in real-time feedback exchange
- Produce presentation materials in PowerPoint and contribute to animated graphics where applicable
Required Qualifications:
- 1-3+ years of relevant graphic and package design experience
- Strong background in fashion, beauty, or retail design; salon industry experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Premiere
- Strong branding and retail design experience
- Strong, polished portfolio required
- Action-oriented and able to work independently through concept and final production
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable balancing diverse, varying project scopes simultaneously
- Highly production-savvy with strong attention to detail
- Experience with PowerPoint; animation skills are a plus
