ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Senior Design Manager will lead the creative direction for our e-commerce brand across product design, media campaigns, and UX. The role holder will mentor a team of designers to successfully translate MAF Retail’s global brand into a best-in-class local e-commerce experience.

What We Are Looking For: An operational leader who can guide a design team and adapt global brand guidelines within a fast-paced, commercial e-commerce environment.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Creative Direction

  • Creative Strategy & Execution: Translate briefs into clear design direction, timelines, and priorities across e-commerce product pages, media campaigns (paid/owned/earned), CRM visuals, and UI/UX
  • Brand Localization: Adapt global brand guidelines into high-quality, customer-centric creative executions that ensure a consistent experience across all digital touchpoints
  • Design Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends and digital best practices to continuously elevate the brand's visual identity.

Collaboration & Quality Control

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with digital marketing (Performance & CRM), e-commerce, UX, product, and on-site teams, as well as regional stakeholders, to align on brand standards and deliver impactful creative solutions based on business objectives
  • Executive Presentation: Present creative concepts, rationales, and outcomes on a regular and ad-hoc basis
  • Execution & Quality Assurance: Oversee end-to-end creative delivery, ensuring outputs are optimized for e-commerce performance, and balance creative excellence with commercial speed and scalability

Team & Operations Management

  • People Leadership: Manage, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary design team (graphic, digital, UI/UX), identifying training needs and driving performance management to build a strong talent pipeline
  • Workflow Optimization: Establish agile processes, workflows, and quality standards to efficiently prioritize, allocate, and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Creative Traffic Control: Act as the central point of contact for incoming creative requests, managing the end-to-end delivery from concept to final asset deployment

People Development & Governance

  • Performance & Talent Pipeline: Drive the performance management process and provide mentorship to build a continuous talent pipeline for critical design roles
  • Training & Capability Building: Identify team training needs, collaborate with Human Capital (HC) to facilitate development, and oversee on-the-job training to maintain a highly competent team

Success is achieved when MAF Retail’s e-commerce creative is brand-consistent, performance-driven, efficiently delivered, and led by a motivated, high-performing design team.

Functional/Technical Competencies

  • Creative Direction & Visual Leadership: Advanced ability to establish visual identities, guide multi-channel asset creation, and maintain strict brand alignment across all digital touchpoints
  • E-Commerce Design & UI/UX Strategy: Deep understanding of user experience, interface design, and conversion rate optimization (CRO) principles to ensure creative assets directly drive online retail performance
  • Agile Creative Operations: Proven expertise in project prioritization, resource allocation, and workflow optimization to deliver high-volume assets under tight commercial timelines
  • Stakeholder Management & Articulation: Exceptional presentation skills to confidently pitch creative concepts, defend design rationale
  • Data-Informed Creative Iteration: Ability to analyze e-commerce performance data and campaign metrics to continuously optimize and iterate visual design strategies.

Qualification, Experience & Skills:

Minimum Qualifications/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field

Minimum Experience

  • 6 – 8+ years of professional experience in graphic design, branding, animation, and video production.
  • Experience within a Creative Design Agency or Ecommerce Retail Organization is a plus.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of managing, structuring, and inspiring multidisciplinary internal design teams
  • Strong capability in sourcing, onboarding, and managing external creative agencies and freelancers, maximizing output quality while optimizing budgets and timelines.
  • Exceptional design and problem-solving skills, with the ability to envision and deliver user-centric design solutions that address complex challenges.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating work across digital campaigns, product design, and UX/UI.
  • Strong knowledge of e-Commerce ecosystem and online app and web customer experience journey
  • Strong English language skills (Speaking, Reading and Writing) with exceptional business writing, Arabic is a plus
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
