Position: PRODUCTION COORDINATOR- AUDIO
Cary’s Parks Recreation and Cultural Resources department is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to join our Production team in our Cultural Resources division as a Production Coordinator
– Audio!
This position plans, executes, and leads technical production work in support of events and operation for Cary. The Production Coordinator-Audio will be responsible for leading the coordination of video, lighting, and audio support for assigned venues and events, and requires specialized knowledge of Production Audio.
This position frequently serves in a management role at events, overseeing all areas of technical production, and frequently serves as an equipment operator. Work includes considerable contact with clients ranging from Cary citizens to Cary staff.
Work is performed under the Production Supervisor – Audio. This position regularly supervises the work of contracted technicians and contracted production companies.
* Assists in ensuring that all venues have a functioning production Audio System, including ensuring appropriate microphone inventory, appropriately deployed speakers, amplification, and processing, and appropriate control/mixing/equipment processing, as well as necessary documentation.?
* Advances shows with internal/external clients and artists, reviewing tech riders, artist contracts, as well as assisting clients with event planning when necessary.
* Sets schedules for production support of events, and plans staffing based upon available resources for assigned events.
* Collaborates with event planners to meet their needs with available resources.
* Documents plans for meeting event production needs through Cary systems while maintaining communication with various stakeholders.
* Collaborates with Production Team to ensure that all events are staffed with Cary Staff and contractors, leads coordination of the contractor schedule as required for each event.
* Maintains audio production equipment and supplies, performing routine maintenance duties and overseeing contractors in maintenance tasks.
* Collaborates with peers, employees, and contractors in the successful execution of events.
* Sets up, configures, operates, and strikes production equipment at assigned venues and events as needed, including corporate style meetings, Council events, theatrical drama and dance, live music concerts, stand-up comedy, themed environments, etc.
* Opens and closes Cary venues as required.
* Assists with documenting procedures in operation of applicable technical systems at assigned venues, creating efficiencies where possible.
* Supports instruction and training of staff and contractors in applicable technical systems and on new techniques or newly acquired equipment.
* Coordinates with peers and leads contractors in the successful execution of production needs for events.
* Enforces safety protocols and ensures that all work in responsible areas is performed in accordance with applicable fire codes, OSHA, and Cary Safety Standards and Policies.
* Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Comprehensive Knowledge of:
* All aspects of technical theatre and production management (proper theatrical rigging practices, handling of hard and soft scenic goods, mechanical physics, fundamental electricity, modern construction practices and materials, stage crafts including rigging, lighting, carpentry, video and sound equipment) with a specialty in Production Audio.
* Occupational hazards and necessary safety protocol of production work.
* Audio and Sound Design and the utilization of entertainment and commercial audio equipment and control systems including Allen and Heath processing systems, Dante networks, and various amplification and speaker systems.
* Operation, setup, and repair of all kinds of audio equipment by Shure, Allen and Heath, Electrovoice, Danley Sound Labs, Yamaha, DPA, Telefunken, and others.
* Computer software for lighting, sound and video, including console remotes, iOS remote apps, OSC, Qlab, etc.?
* Repairing and maintaining sound, light and video equipment.
General Knowledge of:
* Techniques, methods and procedures of theater, dance, music and concert productions and presentations including stage, set, sound design and implementation, stage management, computerized sound systems, and production IT networking and infrastructure.
* Operation of productions in outdoor venues and maintenance of equipment in outdoor settings.
* Windows PC w/Office applications, Apple Computers with production applications, Qlab, various offline software, and scheduling software.
Ability to:
* Communicate Cary policies, standard procedures, and rules to clients and the public as required in the execution of events.
* Provide effective leadership to both paid and volunteer crew members with varying technical expertise.
* Handle complex scheduling and exercise good judgment when bringing together production elements.
