PURPOSE OF
THE ROLE
Join BBC Music as a Commissioning Producer, helping to shape, grow and connect our on demand podcast brands with audiences wherever they are. Working across audio and visual, you will play a key role in ensuring our content not only stands out creatively, but reaches the right audiences on the right platforms. We’re looking for people who are thinking beyond the idea itself to how it travels, lands and grows.
Working cross functionally with experts at BBC Sounds, marketing and social you will help deliver music storytelling that sparks conversation and strengthens the BBC’s presence in the on demand space.
We’re a multi award winning commissioning team making some of the BBC’s biggest on demand music titles. This includes Sidetracked, the UK’s number one music podcast, The Rise and Fall of…, which was named one of the Guardian’s top podcasts last year, and the returning Pop Top 10s with Scott Mills and Rylan. A lot of what we do sits around big cultural moments, from Glastonbury to Eurovision to major artist landmark moments.
Our content works in partnership with the BBC’s major music brands as well as closely with some of the world’s biggest artists and their teams.
You will join a collaborative, ambitious team at the centre of the BBC’s on demand music strategy. This is an opportunity to develop formats that reach millions, influence how audiences discover music and help define the BBC’s creative identity across Sounds, iPlayer, social platforms and more. This role will also be part of the broader team that has a big focus on what comes next, with a strong pipeline of new ideas in development across audio, visual and digital.
We’re ultimately looking for people who love music and storytelling and care about how it’s shared with the world. You might already be in a commissioning style role or you might come from a background in marketing, social, digital, music, production or audience development. If you understand how content connects with audiences and have the curiosity, initiative and perspective to help it grow, we’d love to hear from you.
Don’t rule yourself out if commissioning isn’t on your CV, what matters is your ability to bring a clear point of view, think creatively about audiences and platforms, and apply your expertise to help our titles reach further and land even bigger!
