Overview
Producer Jobs in United States at HardScope
About the Role
HardScope is looking for a Producer to own the full production lifecycle of our original content from the moment the creative team hands off a greenlit concept, all the way through post-production delivery. This is a hands-on, ownership-oriented role for someone who thrives on translating a creative vision into a concrete production plan and executing it without losing a beat. At any given time you’ll be managing two to three projects simultaneously, each at different stages of production.
Responsibilities
Production Planning & Budgeting
- Read and interpret creative documents to identify all production requirements: locations, travel logistics, set builds, crew size, equipment, and more.
- Develop detailed production budgets from scratch based on creative scope, and manage those budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Flag budget variances early and problem-solve to keep projects on track financially.
Logistics & Location
- Determine whether a project requires a location scout, a set build, and/or travel, and execute accordingly.
- Work with the talent booker to secure locations that serve the creative vision and fit within budget.
- Manage all travel logistics for crew, talent, and equipment as needed.
Crew & Vendor Management
- Assess crew needs per project and build the right team for each.
- Work with Sr. Producer and the broader HardScope network to crew up projects, leveraging existing relationships and identifying new ones as needed.
- Coordinate with the line producer on scheduling, rates, and contracts.
Production Execution
- Set shoot dates in coordination with talent, crew, and location availability.
- Run day-to-day production operations on set, serving as the central point of contact and decision-maker.
- Anticipate and resolve production challenges quickly, keeping quality high and schedules intact.
Post-Production Oversight
- Shepherd projects through post: coordinate with editors, manage review rounds, track deliverable timelines, and ensure final outputs meet HardScope’s standards.
- Maintain clear communication with the Head of Studio on post status and any timeline risks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with the Head of Studio throughout the production process, escalating key decisions while owning day-to-day execution independently.
- Serve as the connective tissue between creative, production, and post teams, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
Qualifications
Experience & Skills
- 3–6 years of production experience in digital video, YouTube, unscripted TV, or a comparable content environment.
- Proven ability to manage productions end-to-end from pre-production planning through post delivery. You understand how to transform an idea into a finished product, you’ve done it before, you’re familiar with the workflows.
- Strong budgeting skills: you can look at a creative brief and build a realistic budget from the ground up. Proficiency with Excel/Sheets is assumed and will be verified, please do not exaggerate.
- Experience coordinating crew, vendors, and locations across varied production scales.
- Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously at different production stages.
- Familiarity with travel-based or location-dependent productions is a strong plus.
Mindset & Approach
- You act like an owner.
- You are honest, have integrity, and passion for creation. You are humble and understand creative collaboration requires vulnerability.
- You read creative documents and immediately start thinking in logistics: what does this need, how much will it cost, who do I need to call?
- You’re a proactive communicator who keeps stakeholders informed without being asked.
- You’re solutions-first: production never goes perfectly, and you stay calm and resourceful when it doesn’t.
Nice to Haves
- Existing relationships with crew, location scouts, or vendors.
- Experience working with talent bookers and managing on-camera talent logistics.
- Background in YouTube or digital-native content specifically.
- Familiarity with production management tools (e.g., GreenSlate, Notion, Airtable, StudioBinder, or similar).
