At MediaWorks, we're home to some of New Zealand's most-loved audio brands and fast growing podcast network through rova. We're looking for an experienced Podcast Content Manager to work with some of New Zealand's best talent, creators, and build podcasts that audiences love and advertisers want to be part of.
The Opportunity
This role sits at the intersection of creativity, leadership and commercial thinking. You'll bring together compelling storytelling, audience insights and operational excellence to grow audiences and drive results.
Reporting to the Head of rova Studio, you'll translate strategy into execution—ensuring every podcast is delivered to the highest editorial, creative and production standards across video, audio and social platforms.
Responsibilities Include
- Leading the day-to-day editorial direction across the rova Studios podcast portfolio.
- Managing, coaching and developing a team of Producers while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Driving content quality, consistency and innovation across every stage of production.
- Overseeing production workflows, studio scheduling, publishing and production resources to ensure seamless delivery.
- Partnering with commercial, marketing, radio and digital teams to deliver engaging audience-first content and authentic brand integrations.
- Identifying opportunities for new podcasts, presenters and content formats that support the continued growth of rova Studios.
- Using audience insights and performance data to optimise content, grow audiences and maximise engagement.
- Managing production budgets, external resources and operational delivery.
What You’ll Bring
You're an experienced editorial leader with a passion for podcasts and understand what makes compelling content resonate with audiences.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Broadcasting, Communications, Media or equivalent industry experience in leadership or production management.
- At least five years' experience in podcasting, radio, audio or digital media, with strong video-first or multiplatform editorial experience.
- Proven success leading content across video, audio and social channels with exceptional editorial judgement and creative instincts.
- Experience developing content strategies and creating ideas that engage diverse audiences across multiple platforms.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience integrating sponsorships, branded content and commercial partnerships while maintaining editorial integrity.
- Experience managing and developing on-air talent, presenters or content creators, along with coaching and mentoring production teams.
- Outstanding organisational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple productions, priorities and deadlines while delivering on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative approach across editorial, commercial, marketing and production teams.
It would be fantastic if you also bring experience using Descript, along with multi-track audio editing software such as Avid Pro Tools or Adobe Audition. Plus competency with podcast hosting, distribution and monetisation platforms, Dynamic Audio Ad Insertion (DAAI), integrated commercial delivery, and familiarity with NZ On Air funding processes would also be super helpful.
