We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Photography Teacher to join our outstanding Photography team. This role is ideal for a qualified educator with a passion for photography and learner development within a dynamic further education environment.
The is a permanent, part-time role (21 hours per week), based at our City Campus Manchester.
You will be joining a highly experienced and commercially focused photography department with a vast range of industry knowledge across commercial photography, studio practice, creative image-making, and visual media. The team brings extensive industry-based experience and strong connections to the wider world of photography, providing learners with valuable insight into current professional practice, industry expectations, and progression opportunities.
As a UAL Awarding Body qualification provider, experience and understanding of UAL programmes and assessment requirements are essential to this role. The successful candidate will be confident delivering creative education within UAL frameworks and supporting learners to achieve high standards in both practical and contextual work.
The department is committed to delivering an inspiring and industry-relevant learning experience that supports learners in developing both creative and technical skills. Department projects include Greater Mancunian, a long-standing live brief explored by learners and the teaching team, encouraging creative investigation of identity, place, community, and contemporary culture through photography and visual storytelling.
The role will involve teaching, assessment, tutorial support, curriculum development, and contribution to departmental activities and enrichment.
You will deliver high-quality teaching across photography programmes while ensuring standards are met in line with awarding body requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging teaching, learning, and assessment in Photography.
- Prepare learners for assessments and projects aligned to UAL awarding body specifications.
- Assess student work and provide constructive feedback in line with UAL standards.
- Support learners in developing practical skills in areas such as camera techniques, studio practice, lighting, editing, darkroom processes, and visual storytelling.
- Deliver teaching across both traditional and digital photographic practices.
- Support learners in using professional photographic studios, lighting equipment, and darkroom facilities safely and effectively.
- Contribute to course and curriculum development activities.
- Support and contribute to department-led projects, exhibitions, and live briefs including Greater Mancunian.
