Position Summary
Part‑time Audio Visual Technician responsible for operating Mountaineer Audio Visual Productions, setting up, running, and dismantling AV equipment for university presentations and live events. Duties include truck and cart handling and collaborating with the Director and Assistant Director to meet event support needs. Hours vary based on the event schedule.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist with operations of Mountaineer Audio Visual Productions.
- Assist with setup, instruction, operation, and breakdown of AV equipment in various university locations.
- Load/unload trucks and push/pull carts with AV equipment in various weather conditions.
- Work with the Director & Assistant Director to understand and meet University constituents’ needs for event support services.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school or GED diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in the audio‑visual technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience providing audiovisual support for presentations and live events, preferably in the higher education setting.
License/Certification Required
- Valid driver’s license upon the first day of employment and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of current AV technology systems and equipment.
- Basic knowledge of audio and video conferencing, video streaming software and equipment.
- Hands‑on technical skills and aptitude for troubleshooting and adjusting AV equipment.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment and computer software systems.
- Ability to work with student team members and work effectively with clients.
- Strong computer skills and software skills (Mac & PC), including PowerPoint, Google Slides, Zoom, etc.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Excellent listening, speaking, and written communication skills.
- Must be responsible, self‑motivated, personable, well‑organized and professional.
- Flexibility and ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Schedule / Hours
- Day, evening, and weekend hours based on event schedule.
- Number of hours per week will vary based on event schedule.
- Position is 11 months per year.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity, and market considerations.
