Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Brand Publishing, and supporting the Product Manager, the Intern will get a broad overview of the Harlequin brand publishing and product strategy efforts within the Core Series Publishing team, which deals exclusively with category romance. The Intern will gain experience in a variety of areas within book publishing, product management, and brand strategy.

This team works closely with the brand marketing, editorial, art and sales departments to develop and raise awareness for books under the Harlequin Brand publishing umbrella across a wide variety of genres.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a variety of tracking documents (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint) that assist in executing the publishing strategy for Harlequin’s Core Series business.
  • Participates in meetings to aid in keyword and metadata search optimization and cover direction.
  • Works with key stakeholders to ensure on-time development, communication and execution of covers according to publishing schedules. Supports the Product Manager in various ways, including acting as a key point of contact for 4 publishing lines.
  • Supports the Series Product team with a variety of initiatives e.g., title sampling, the execution of in-book communication, title promotion.
  • Aids in trend investigation and research projects to help inform publishing strategies and discover areas of opportunity.
  • Acts as a key point of contact for Product Marketing for key stakeholders to provide clarity and support as required.
  • Provides assistance with updating sales collateral to aid sales enablement.
  • Provides administrative support including booking meetings, organizing shared file drives, tracking and sharing sales data, supporting colleagues through research and information tracking, and various additional tasks as requested.

Qualifications

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work, manage multiple deadlines, and demonstrate solid follow through.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • High level of organization and record-keeping.
  • High degree of initiative and independence, and the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaboration, persuasion, and problem-solving skills, with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including a basic understanding of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and a love of books are a must.
