Title of Course

VISA 1P20 Investigating Photography

Photography as fine art medium emphasizing visual aesthetics and concept development. Historical and contemporary work, and concepts in photography will support studio discussions and processes. Critical analysis and photo theory. Lectures, lab, 4 hours synchronous and 1 hour asynchronous per week in the spring term

Note: The synchronous portion is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday .

Delivery Method: ONM (Online Mixed) –

Compensation

Effective September 1, 2024 – $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 – $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)

Please note:

Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).

Qualifications

2. Previous experience teaching photography at the university level is required.

3. Evidence of active professional practice with a focus on photography is required.

3. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary photographic theory and practice. Knowledge of both analogue and digital photography and editing software is required.

4. Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught ( course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.
