Innovative Signage Inc. is a custom architectural signage manufacturer. We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver quality products that realize our customer’s visions for their projects. No project is too custom for us to tackle, and we approach any brief with innovation and creativity.
We are looking for a talented and passionate designer to join our team. Due the custom nature of our signage, we produce with a wide variety of materials and processes, including metal fabrication, joinery, glass, concrete and more. You must have a passion for learning, and be able to research and understand new manufacturing materials and techniques to utilize in your design.
Creative problem solving is a large part of what we do as a business for our customers, and this is the approach we encourage from all our staff, not just our design team. We approach projects collaboratively, and so you must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with all other departments.
Signage, by its nature, involves graphic design and type-setting. You must have a good eye for composition, colour and fonts, and also understanding the functionality of a signs messaging.
Responsibilities
- Produce working technical drawing packs for clients, in-house fabrication and outsourced fabrication
- Produce conceptual design presentations for complete project way finding systems, including mood boards, illustrations and renders
- Interpret and develop client briefs and design concepts into fully realized and considered designs
- Read and understand city sign by-laws to ensure designs will meet local requirements
- Graphic design and layout of signage and way finding, including digital artwork for print
- Manage your personal workload effectively to meet deadlines
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Industrial Designer, Product Designer or related position
- Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design or related field, or equivalent work experience is essential
- Familiar with design tools:
Corel Draw, Adobe, Rhino, Fusion or similar software - Fluent in Microsoft Office software
- A passion for continual personal development – you must be a self-directed learner, wanting to understand and explore new techniques, and be able to implement your learnings
- Effective communication – Verbal, written and through drawings and mock-ups, both internally, with customers and vendors
- Experience in 1-off and batch manufacturing an asset
- Experience working in the signage industry an asset
