Uniestate Properties is seeking a Head of Innovation & Design to elevate our brand and ensure our design standards are top-notch. In this role, you will be responsible for structural branding, defining and updating Uniestate’s design parameters and standards to keep us at the forefront of the industry.

Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Strategy and Planning:
• Advise Chief Development Officer on design-related matters that impact the implementation of the Company’s strategy.
2. Financial:
• Manage design budget preparation and provide input to the budgeting process.
3. Leadership:
• Represent the Section to Chief Development Officer, other departments and to external parties; serve on committees, as required.
• Provide technical leadership across Uniestate, ensuring that design principles and standards are applied to all development and asset management projects
4. Business:
• Acquire and maintain expertise in Uniestate’s business, including its structure, departmental roles and responsibilities and operations, applying this knowledge in all decisions.
5. Policies, procedures and ways of working:
• Direct the development and implementation of Section’s internal policies, systems, processes, and procedures.
6. People and talent management:
• Identify subordinates’ learning and development needs and ensure that they receive the required training, experience and learning to execute their roles effectively.
• Identify successors for Section positions and ensure that they are mentored and developed to be able to take up new roles, when required.
• Delegate tasks to subordinates to assist them in developing their competencies.
• Provide active leadership for nationalization programs and the development of UAE nationals.
7. Design management:
• Conduct continuous research on innovative materials, systems and products enhancing sustainability, comfort and quality aligned with company strategy.
• Prepare innovative concept designs that differentiate Uniestate brand based on approved concept document.
• Provide expertise during opportunity appraisal to Development Section by clarifying design principles and standards.
• Advise Development Section on how design principles and standards will impact project feasibility.
• Integrate innovation, sustainability, and smart-living concepts where commercially viable.
• Prepare or lead the preparation of the consultant’s design brief and prepare scopes of work for design consultants, where applicable.
• Lead the preparation of design standards for different market tiers and project types.
• Review consultant proposals (schematic and conceptual design) against approved design principles and standards.
• Recommend the appointment of design consultants, where required, and ensure that they fulfil their contractual requirements.
• Manage the engagement of design consultants.
• Issue architectural mandate and ensure timely delivery of drawings and consultant deliverables.
• Approve or arrange the approval of designs.
• Control design changes and ensure formal approval of variations
8. Risk management:
• Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of project risk registers and the project portfolio risk register.
• Contribute to the asset risk register, when required.
9. Technology:
• Propose systems, applications and tools for innovation and design management.
• Ensure that project teams utilise approved systems, applications and tools.
10. Compliance:
• Ensure that all designs, works and processes comply with legal / regulatory and internal requirements.
• Advise subordinates on compliance-related matters.
Education and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is required
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred
Experience:
• 9+ years of experience in development field with a least four years of experience in a managerial position.
