Ringway is seeking a Head of Events & Communications to take charge of our major national events programme – including a landmark anniversary celebration this year and ensure our story comes to life across every region.

This is not a traditional comms role. We’re looking for someone who is hands‑on, people‑focused, and brilliant at creating memorable experiences that showcase our culture, our people and our achievements. You’ll lead event strategy, shape how we show up across the industry, and support the business through engaging, practical communications that complement your event delivery.

The Role

As our Head of Events & Communications, you will:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of major national events, including Ringway’s upcoming anniversary celebration – a key milestone requiring creative direction, flawless organisation and strong on-the-ground leadership.
  • Coordinate regional and national engagement events, conferences, open days, roadshows, award ceremonies and community activities.
  • Represent Ringway as a visible, confident presence at internal and external events.
  • Work closely with business units to plan local engagement programmes that align with our national calendar.
  • Manage budgets, suppliers, logistics and event risk assessments to deliver high-quality, safe and memorable experiences.
  • Support wider communications activities including internal updates, campaigns, social content and storytelling, ensuring events and messages are aligned and impactful.
  • Oversee PR, awards entries, sponsorships and key industry appearances (e.g., Highways UK, CIHT) as part of our events footprint.
  • Ensure our brand and values are consistently represented across all events, materials and interactions.
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, strategic partners and external stakeholders through events and engagement activities.
  • Spot opportunities to showcase innovation, people stories, community initiatives and social value across the business.

Person Profile

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Confident, outgoing and thrives when engaging people at all levels.
  • Hands‑on leader who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and taking charge on site.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale corporate events, activations, conferences or celebrations.
  • Able to bring creativity, structure and clarity to complex event programmes.
  • Strong supplier, venue and stakeholder management skills.
  • Skilled at managing timelines, budgets and competing priorities.
  • Can align event programmes with business needs, strategic goals and work-winning ambitions.
  • Comfortable supporting messaging, storytelling and engagement activities.
  • Good understanding of how events amplify brand presence and reputation.

Professional Requirements

  • Level 7 qualification and relevant professional membership (Member/Certified)
  • Experience in crisis/event contingency planning (desirable)
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple business units
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK
