About The Role

The Graphic Design Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the visual identity of ASA across all platforms. This leadership position involves overseeing the creation, development, and production of print and digital assets that support ASA’s branding, marketing, and communication initiatives. The manager will lead a team of creative professionals, collaborate with multiple departments, and coordinate external vendors to deliver high-quality visual content. A key aspect of this role is managing the design process from concept through execution, ensuring all outputs align with ASA’s brand standards and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a creative mindset, and extensive experience in graphic design within a professional or healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, or a related field (highly desired)
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional graphic design experience
  • Portfolio demonstrating a broad range of health care, education, or association collateral work
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
  • Familiarity with healthcare, medical, or association communications preferred
  • Experience with email marketing platforms and template creation preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop
  • Strong computer skills across Mac and PC platforms
  • Knowledge of workflow management tools such as Wrike is a plus
  • Experience working with external vendors including printers, freelancers, and video producers
  • Understanding of production processes, printing, and mailing logistics
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce error-free work
  • Creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Manage all graphic design needs for the ASA Monitor, collaborating closely with the editorial team to create engaging visuals for print and online content
  • Design monthly themes, column iconography, and article graphics to enhance visual communication
  • Select and retouch photography, ensuring alignment with content themes and brand standards
  • Review proofs for ASA Monitor and ASA Monitor+ to maintain quality and consistency
  • Supervise the Graphic Design and Production Specialist, fostering a high-performing team and supporting professional development
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and other departments to develop creative strategies that meet organizational objectives
  • Lead the conceptualization, design, layout, and production of marketing collateral, publications, signage, and packaging
  • Establish and uphold graphic design best practices across digital, print, and cross-platform applications
  • Manage photography standards, digital asset libraries, and coordinate with freelance photographers for events and projects
  • Design and produce annual reports, including ASA and ASAPAC publications, as well as other informational materials
  • Coordinate with publishing partners on production schedules, file specifications, and deliverables
  • Oversee vendor relationships, including obtaining quotes, managing proofs, and ensuring quality standards are met
  • Work with journal editors and digital specialists to produce visual abstracts and other journal-related content
  • Deliver creative assets for various business units on time and within budget parameters
  • Develop and implement processes for incoming creative requests, workload management, and resource allocation
  • Stay current with industry trends, design software updates, and emerging technologies to continually improve design quality and efficiency
  • Ensure all work complies with ASA’s core values of dedication, collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement
