The Fowler Museum at UCLA seeks a motivated undergraduate student for the 2026 Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship in Public Programs
. The intern will work closely with the Curator of Public Programs to support the museum’s summer programming and assist with preparations for the opening celebration of a major exhibition in August 2026, as well as contribute to planning for the Fall 2026 seasonal calendar.
This internship offers hands‑on experience in museum public programming, community engagement, and arts administration. Programs may take place at the museum, at partner organizations, or in online formats.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist with a range of activities related to public programming and audience engagement. Responsibilities include supporting the planning and implementation of summer programs and special events, assisting with preparations for the opening celebration of major exhibitions, and contributing to research on potential program themes, artists, and community partners for upcoming exhibitions. In particular, the intern will help support program development for two upcoming exhibitions focused on Southeast and South Asian art and cultures:
Mountain Spirits:
Rice and Indigeneity in the Northern Luzon Highlands, Philippines (opening April 11, 2026) and Textiles As Monuments (opening summer 2026). The intern will also assist with targeted outreach, engagement, and marketing efforts, including social media; provide guest support during public programs and events; compile background information for grant applications and reports; and provide general administrative and organizational support for public programs, etc.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong writing and communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and careful attention to detail. Applicants should be able to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative environment and have basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Interest in museums, arts programming, and working with diverse audiences is essential. Experience with graphic design, social media, or multimedia content (audio/video) is a plus.
The intern will collaborate with staff across the museum and engage with visitors, UCLA faculty and students, artists, arts professionals, and community partners.
This internship is part of the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship Program.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, typically Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
- Stipend: $7,150
