About Chariot: Chariot is a frontier AI research lab based in India, building foundational AI models. We’re one of four teams selected under the IndiaAI Mission to build models from India.

The Role: You’ll be our first designer, which means you own everything visual. The product our developers build on, the brand the world sees, the videos and posts that carry our arguments, the decks that go in front of partners. All of it is yours to define.

This includes:

  1. Product. The interfaces, dashboards, and playground our developers use every day. You decide what using Chariot feels like.
  2. Brand. The identity of the company itself, how it looks, how it reads, the system everything else is built on. Decks, one-pagers, the visual language.
  3. Content. The videos and graphics that go out on X and LinkedIn. When we ship a model or make an argument, you make people stop scrolling.
  4. Prototypes. You take ideas straight to working prototypes in code using AI tools and not waiting on an eng handoff to see if something feels right.

Qualifications & things we look for:

  • Real range in your portfolio across product, brand, and content, not just one of the three.
  • Strong product and interaction design skills, including user flows, wireframing, and prototyping.
  • You make the actual work, not just the direction. You’re comfortable shipping a polished screen and a scroll-stopping short video.
  • Fluent in Figma, and comfortable enough with AI coding tools to turn a design into something that runs.
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems, style guides, and component libraries.
  • Able to run user research and usability testing, then turn what you learn into design decisions.
  • You can edit short-form video well for engaging socials.
  • Understanding of UX principles for voice, conversational interfaces, or AI-driven products is a real plus.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work closely with engineering and product teams.
  • You’re comfortable operating in an early, fast-moving environment and can own projects end to end.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
