Overview
Experiential Spatial Designer Jobs in Greater Boston at X.Wave
ABOUT X.WAVE
X.Wave is a creative marketing agency built on the belief that the best brand moments happen in real space. We produce experiential events, brand activations, and pop-ups for major consumer brands — including New Balance, Foot Locker, Levi's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Kith. We're a small, intentional team that moves fast and builds with care.
THE ROLE
We're looking for an Experiential Spatial Designer who can translate a brand vision into a fully realized physical space. You'll concept, design, and document activation environments for live events and pop-up experiences — from the first sketch to the file a fabricator can actually build from. You'll work alongside our project management team and communicate directly with vendors to make sure the build matches the intent.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
— Develop experiential design concepts, CAD drawings, and production-ready renders for brand activations, pop-ups, and live event environments
— Develop visual merchandising strategies for product displays that maximize storytelling, customer flow, sightlines, and conversion while maintaining brand standards across experiential environments
— Collaborate with project managers from concept through execution, ensuring design vision is maintained across the full production timeline
— Communicate directly with fabricators and third-party vendors to clarify design intent, review shop drawings, and resolve build-phase questions
— Deliver design packages that are precise, buildable, and clearly documented for vendor handoff
— Iterate quickly on concepts in response to budget, timeline, or client feedback without losing the core idea
— Contribute to the creative culture of a small, high-output team where your design voice will be heard
WHAT YOU BRING
— Minimum 3 years of experience in spatial, experiential, or environmental design — agency, event, or production house background strongly preferred
— Proficiency in CAD and 3D rendering tools of your choice (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Vectorworks, or equivalent)
— Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma for presentation and design communication
— Experience working with fabricators, build teams, or production vendors — you understand how a design becomes a structure
— Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver under real event deadlines
— Clear, direct communication skills — you can explain a design decision to a fabricator and a brand client in the same conversation
— A portfolio that demonstrates spatial thinking, not just visual design
