Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Event Manager – Meetings & Social Groups is to provide support to the Hospitality operations as it relates to selling, booking, and executing hospitality events within the hotel parlors, suites, and other unique non-convention event spaces.
All duties are to be performed in accordance The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Single point of contact, Client/Guest liaison to Hotel Operations, ISD Operations, Sales, and Culinary Operations, facilitating all experiential aspects of Corporate, Trade Show, and Social Hospitality Events for 10 -250 guests.
- Converting, contracting, and facilitating social/celebrations related leads for group room block bookings of 10-50 rooms on peak.
- Converting, contracting, and facilitating space-only functions within the Hotel Tower and/or our unique venues.
- Conduct site visits for prospective and definite clients.
- Selling, booking, and executing corporate, social, and trade show affiliated Hospitality Suite events.
- Guide guests through menu planning and space setups for non-suite events in unique spaces including Prestige, Venezia, Stella Studio, Barney’s NY, and The Stadium.
- Create and maintains Social/Celebrations master accounts, affiliate masters, rates, and room block in LMS and Passkey.
- Plan and execute in-house functions in conjunction with PR, Marketing, Sales, Executive/Corporate Office for events taking place in the hotel suites or unique event venues.
- Create, develops, and executes creative themes for social functions using innovative concepts, décor, and services to enhance the event experience.
- Coordinate VIP guest transportation, in-house experiences, and in-suite amenities.
- Maintain a presence on the floor to ensure that clients receive the highest quality experience.
- Support Hospitality operations by organizing, filing, billing, invoicing, voiding, auditing, posting adjustments and/or corrections for all hospitality related orders and event checks.
- Distribute/communicate information for upcoming events to relevant property stakeholders and supporting operational departments.
- Update and maintains lead status for accurate conversion tracking.
- Maintains changes, cancellations, or additions to Hospitality Event Orders (HEO’s) and communication to operations for revisions to orders.
- Promote completion of and achieve 80% satisfaction on the Hospitality Event Survey
- Appropriately and responsibly utilize comp empowerment to promote exceptional guest/client experiences and facilitate timely recovery in the event of service shortfalls.
- Oversee event planning activities to ensure standards are met/exceeded and ensure that operating departments can maximize profitability and effectively control costs (payroll, food costs, beverage costs, operating expenses).
- Builds strong professional relationships with all operational departments.
- Promote guest/client loyalty by building strong and lasting relationships with new and repeat customers.
- Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Safety is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness Card and any certification or license, as required by law or policy.
- 5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the hospitality industry required; with preference in hotel operations highly preferred.
- 1 year of experience coordinating with multiple hospitality departments, such as Culinary, Food & Beverage Management, or Catering/Convention Services, required
- Working knowledge of MICE industry
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, LMS, EBMS, Micros, and Meeting Matrix
- Must be able to give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives
- Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner.
- Must be able to address stressful situations with clients and guests with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
Must be able to:
- Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas, with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts
- Ability to, for prolonged periods of time, sit, walk, stand, and to frequently stretch, bend and kneel.
- Work in a fast-paced and busy environment
- Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, LED, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke
