The Role
We are looking for an Editorial Lead who lives and breathes the world of food, drink, and culture. Someone who knows which new opening genuinely matters and which is merely loud. Someone with an opinion, a network, and the instinct to know what a certain kind of person wants to read before that person knows it themselves.
This is a founding editorial hire. You will help shape not just what VENTURE covers, but how it covers it and who it eventually asks to cover it. You will be building the editorial foundations of a platform with genuine global ambition.
The role is currently sweat equity, with no base salary until the business is funded. We are raising now. This is the right moment to come in.
What You Will Do
Commission, write, and edit content across VENTURE's platform, with an initial focus on London and New York. Deep knowledge of London's F&B scene is essential. Curiosity about New York is equally important, and the ability to write authoritatively about it, whether from experience or through cultivating the right voices on the ground, is a key part of this role from day one.
Work closely with the founder and Editorial Director to define and maintain VENTURE's editorial voice across all formats, from venue features and neighbourhood guides to longer-form cultural pieces.
Help build out what will become a globally distributed editorial network, identifying and nurturing contributing voices in each city VENTURE enters. You will be the person who knows who to call in Lisbon, who understands the scene in Tokyo, who can spot a writer in Sydney with the right sensibility before anyone else does.
Stay genuinely ahead of the curve on openings, closures, trends, and cultural shifts across the cities we cover. Your network is as valuable as your writing.
Contribute to the development of editorial formats, franchises, and recurring features that give VENTURE's content calendar structure and personality.
Who You Are
You have three or more years working in food, drink, culture, or lifestyle editorial, whether at a publication, a digital platform, an agency, or in some combination of all three. What matters is that you have developed a genuine point of view and the craft to express it.
You know the London restaurant and bar scene with real depth. You are the person your friends message when they need a recommendation that will not let them down.
You write with authority and personality. You can adapt your voice to serve a brief without losing what makes your writing worth reading.
You are entrepreneurial. You understand that this is an early-stage business and that means rolling your sleeves up, wearing more than one hat, and finding energy in the building of something rather
than the maintenance of something.
You are comfortable with the commercial realities of a startup, including the equity-first structure of this role, and you see that as an opportunity rather than a compromise.
You are curious about cities, about what makes them move, and about the people and places that define them at any given moment.
