Director of Growth & Marketing
Location: New York City (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-time or Fractional
About DU & BERRY
DU & BERRY is a New York-based designer womenswear brand inspired by art, craftsmanship, and modern femininity. We create original collections that combine timeless tailoring with contemporary design and build meaningful connections with our customers through storytelling, culture, and community.
We are entering an important stage of growth and are looking for a marketing leader who is equally passionate about building a distinctive brand and a successful business.
Position Summary
This is not a traditional marketing role.
We are looking for someone who understands the opportunities, risks, rewards, and demands of working with an early-stage fashion company. The ideal candidate enjoys taking ownership, building systems, leading people, solving problems, and driving measurable business growth.
The Director of Growth & Marketing will lead DU & BERRY’s overall marketing strategy and execution and report directly to the Founder.
This person will oversee brand marketing, digital marketing, e-commerce, customer acquisition and retention, content, advertising, and the marketing team. The role requires someone who can see the big picture while ensuring that day-to-day initiatives are executed effectively and on time.
The position may be structured as a fractional role for an agreed-upon period. However, this is not a consulting position. The individual will take ownership of the company’s marketing and growth initiatives and will be accountable for agreed-upon business objectives.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the company’s overall marketing and growth strategy.
- Lead initiatives that increase qualified traffic, customer acquisition, retention, and revenue.
- Oversee digital advertising, e-commerce, website performance, email marketing, social media, and content.
- Translate the Founder’s creative vision into clear, commercially effective marketing initiatives.
- Lead and coordinate photographers, designers, content creators, influencers, agencies, freelancers, and other marketing partners.
- Establish clear priorities, budgets, timelines, performance standards, and reporting processes.
- Evaluate the customer journey and identify opportunities to improve the sales funnel and overall customer experience.
- Build, direct, and motivate a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing marketing team.
- Adapt marketing strategy to product launches, inventory needs, customer behavior, and changing business conditions.
- Strengthen brand awareness, customer loyalty, and the company’s long-term market position.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 10 years of experience in women’s fashion, luxury, beauty, or a closely related consumer industry.
- At least 5 years of experience in e-commerce and digital marketing.
- Proven experience leading marketing strategy for a fashion or consumer brand.
- Demonstrated success in driving commercial growth, not only brand awareness.
- Strong knowledge of paid media, e-commerce, customer acquisition, retention, and marketing performance.
- Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional projects from strategy through execution.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work effectively with both creative and business teams.
- A strong sense of ownership and the ability to operate independently in an early-stage company.
- Relevant relationships across the fashion, media, creative, influencer, agency, or digital marketing industries.
- Proficiency in using AI and modern technology to improve productivity, analysis, and marketing execution.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable discussing brand positioning, creative campaigns, customer acquisition, sales performance, and team accountability.
They should be able to recognize whether a business challenge is related to branding, traffic, content, conversion, execution, or team structure—and take the lead in solving it.
Most importantly, this person must be able to turn creative vision into disciplined execution and measurable business growth.
Compensation
Base salary of $140,000–$180,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus performance-based incentives tied to agreed-upon growth and business objectives. Alternative compensation structures may be considered for exceptional candidates or fractional engagements.
