Summary
We’re looking for a strategic, curious, and entertainment-savvy Director of Creative Strategy & Insights to join our fast-growing Studio Marketing team at SmithGeiger, LLC. This role will help lead the design and execution of consumer research studies, from positioning and franchise development to creative and content testing that directly inform content and digital marketing strategy and production decisions for some of the most recognized names in film and streaming.
In this role, you’ll lead consumer research initiatives from brief to final delivery, combining the rigor of research methodologies with the instincts of a seasoned creative thinker. You won't just be analyzing data; you'll be crafting narratives that resonate with senior marketing and production executives and helping them see their audiences in a new light.
The ideal candidate combines a strong research background with creative storytelling instincts who can turn insights into compelling narratives that influence client strategy. You’ll work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external entertainment clients, leading end-to-end projects while also mentoring junior team members. You will also be helping experiment and innovate with new research approaches in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment. Key Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of custom qualitative and quantitative research studies from scoping through final deliverable, including entertainment landscape mapping, brand positioning, and creative/content testing.
- Oversee all aspects of the research process including proposal writing, questionnaire/discussion guide development, fielding, analysis, reporting, and client presentations.
- Design and execute creative testing studies, including ad testing, trailer evaluations, and content positioning research.
- Write with clarity and creativity; your reports and presentations should be as engaging as they are rigorous.
- Craft strategic narratives using a mix of structured and unstructured data, bringing insights to life through storytelling frameworks, segmentation strategies, and compelling visualizations.
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to entertainment clients by interpreting their business challenges, translating them into research questions, and delivering highimpact recommendations.
- Manage and mentor junior analysts, providing guidance on methodology, storytelling, and client communication.
- Identify emerging trends in the entertainment and streaming landscape, especially when it comes to social media and digital marketing, and contribute to thought leadership initiatives that position our team as industry leaders.
- Explore and experiment with new tools and technologies to identify better approaches and find deeper insights.
- Contribute to thought leadership that positions SmithGeiger as an innovator in entertainment research.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of consumer research experience, at an agency or on the client side.
- A track record as a strong writer and storyteller — someone who makes insights compelling, not just correct.
- Deep expertise in creative testing, including ad testing, trailer research, or content evaluation.
- Proficiency in both qualitative (focus groups, IDIs, AI-moderated platforms) and quantitative methods.
- Strong knowledge of the film, streaming, or entertainment landscape.
- Proven experience managing junior team members or direct reports.
- Excellent communication skills — a confident presenter and crisp, engaging writer.

- Familiarity with entertainment marketing, strategic positioning, and production cycles is a strong plus.

Location & Travel
This is a fully remote position (U.S. only). Occasional travel (1–2x/year) is expected for team
offsites or client meetings. No specific time zone preference.

Compensation
Based on qualifications and experience the salary range will be $100K-$140K with
the opportunity to earn commissions and bonus on targets met
2026-2027 Full-Time Employee Benefits Summary
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Total yearly accrual of 15 days (1.25 days accrued per month). Yearly accrual increases to 20 days after 5 years of employment.
Paid Holidays

Monthly Service Day
Employees are eligible to take 4 hours paid to volunteer per month with prior manager approval.
Location Flexibility
Hybrid remote work schedules depending on location and position.
401(k) Plan
Employees are eligible to participate in the first open enrollment period following date of hire. Open enrollments occur quarterly.
Profit Sharing Plan
A discretionary Profit-sharing award is determined by SmithGeiger’s after the final close of each fiscal year-end. Full-time employees are eligible for the next plan year after meeting the one-year eligibility requirement. The amount of any award represents a fixed percentage of employees’ eligible base earnings.
Group Health Insurance
SmithGeiger subsidizes 80% of the premium cost of the full-time employee’s medical insurance premium in a base plan commonly known as an “HMO Plan.” Plus, SmithGeiger will contribute $200 per enrolled dependent spouse and child with a cap of $600 for children per month. Employees may elect to buy up to a more premium plan (HAS, PPO, or another HMO plan).
Dental Insurance
SmithGeiger will pay the full cost for employee coverage in a PPO dental insurance plan; dependents are paid for by the employee.
Vision Services
Optional coverage for Vision Service Plan (VSP) employee can choose to add at own expense.
Life Insurance
Full-time employees enrolled in the Group Health Insurance plan are covered by our Group Life Insurance (for $25,000 coverage). Additional voluntary coverage is available at employees’ own expense.
FSA/Dependent/Limited
Optional coverage for FSA, Dependent Care, or Limited Spending employee can choose to add at own expense.
Educational Assistance Program
Tuition assistance for courses that are directly related to the employee's position or are a part of a planned degree program in a field that has applicability to company business for up to $1,500 per year. Refer to the employee manual for further details.
Performance and Salary Reviews
Performance reviews are generally conducted 6 months into employment, 1 year after employment, and annually thereafter. Employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance, depending on the specific employment agreement details.
