Role Overview
We are seeking a Director of Cultural Content & Community Strategy to architect how JOSIE MARAN shows up in culture online and IRL.
This leader will sit at the intersection of storytelling, community building, and brand heat. You will define and drive a cohesive content ecosystem that moves beyond campaigns and into cultural relevance shaping conversation, driving engagement, and turning customers into advocates.
The Director of Cultural Content & Community Strategy is a newly-created, deeply unique role that is integral to transforming JOSIE MARAN into a truly social-first, culturally fluent, communitypowered brand—designed to win in today’s fast-moving consumer ecosystem.
This is not just a content role. This is a culture role.
Key Responsibilities
Cultural Content Strategy
- Develop and lead a multi-platform content strategy across social, creator, experiential, and emerging channels
- Identify and translate cultural moments into brand-right storytelling opportunities
- Evolve the brand voice while protecting its core DNA (joy, vitality, skin-first confidence)
- Partner with Creative to ensure storytelling feels editorial, modern, and culturally literate
Community Architecture
- Build a scalable community strategy that moves from audience → loyalists → advocates
- Develop programs that deepen participation (UGC, ambassadors, brand insiders, IRL touchpoints)
- Oversee community management tone, response framework, and engagement standards
- Transform customer feedback into strategic insights for product and marketing
Integrated Launch Strategy (Social-Led)
- Reimagine product launches and campaigns as social-first moments that cascade into paid, email, retail, and PR
- Partner cross-functionally to be part of campaign ideation from the ground up, ensuring brainstorming begins with platform-native storytelling and social behavior—not traditional top-down campaign frameworks
- Partner with Creative to develop visual systems and content worlds designed for short-form video, conversation, remixing, and UGC adaptation. • Ensure launch concepts are built to travel organically across social feeds before being adapted to other channels
- Establish repeatable launch playbooks that prioritize community engagement, creator participation, and shareable formats
- Ensure retail partnerships (e.g., Sephora) are amplified through authentic community storytelling rather than static promotional messaging
Experiential & IRL Integration
- Ensure events, pop-ups, and retail activations are content engines
- Build frameworks that turn physical experiences into scalable digital storytelling
- Create feedback loops between community and real-world activations
Data + Performance
- Establish KPIs that balance brand heat with conversion
- Monitor engagement, share of voice, sentiment, and community growth
- Translate analytics into actionable strategy shifts
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Josie, Creative, E-commerce, Retail Marketing, and Product Marketing
- Deliver culturally informed creative briefs rooted in social behavior and insight
- Mentor and grow a team that thrives in fast-moving, real-time environments
- Champion experimentation, agility, and community-led thinking across the organization
- Manage Social Media Manager, working closely on social calendars, strategy content creation and community engagement

Qualifications
- 8–12+ years in social-first brand strategy, cultural marketing, or community-building roles at beauty , fashion and/or lifestyle brands
- Experience with a founder-led brand preferred
- Deep understanding of social ecosystems (Instagram, TikTok, emerging platforms)
- Experience building community-led growth engines — not just campaign calendars
- Equal parts creative and analytical
- Fluent in Gen Z and Gen X tone without losing brand integrity
- A natural culture spotter, you see shifts before they trend
- Highly collaborative leader who can inspire cross-functional teams
- Passion for clean beauty, sustainability, and empowering women at every age
Compensation: $130,000-$170,000, DOE, Bonus, Equity
