Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a full-day, in-person assessment workshop at our Rosebank office. The workshop is designed to give candidates an opportunity to demonstrate their skills through practical exercises, collaborative activities, and role-related tasks, while also providing insight into Riverside Creative's culture and ways of working.

Internship Structure:
Our internship programme is designed to provide meaningful learning opportunities while ensuring candidates are well prepared for success.
The programme begins with a one-month Training Programme, during which successful applicants will work under a dedicated Training Agreement. During this period, participants will receive structured onboarding, practical learning, mentorship, and hands-on exposure to the tools, processes, and standards used by Riverside Creative. At the end of the training month, each participant's performance, commitment, attitude, and overall suitability for the role will be assessed.
Candidates who successfully complete the training programme and demonstrate the required performance and potential may be invited to continue into the Digital Media Designer Internship, which can extend for up to 12 months under an Internship Agreement.
While our intention is to develop every trainee into a successful intern, progression into the internship is not automatic and is based on successful completion of the training programme and meeting business requirements.
Role Description
We are looking for a hands-on Digital Media Designer Intern to support our digital and eCommerce teams. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real user problems and creating intuitive, high-converting digital experiences.
This is not a theory-based internship — you will work on live projects across web and mobile environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design user interfaces for websites, landing pages, and eCommerce journeys
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows
- Improve UX based on data, user behaviour, and feedback
- Collaborate with developers and digital marketing teams
- Contribute to CRO (conversion rate optimisation) initiatives
- Design engaging digital assets for websites, landing pages, social media, email marketing campaigns, online advertising, and eCommerce platforms.
- Create graphics, illustrations, icons, infographics, and other visual assets that align with established brand guidelines.
- Produce and edit motion graphics, animations, and short-form video content for digital marketing campaigns and social media platforms.
- Collaborate with the marketing, development, and content teams to deliver creative solutions that support business objectives.
- Apply user-centred design principles to improve usability, accessibility, and overall user experience across digital platforms.
- Maintain consistency across all visual communications by adhering to brand standards and design systems.
- Prepare design assets for both digital publication and developer handover, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Support the creation and optimisation of eCommerce content, including product imagery, promotional banners, and landing pages.
- Assist in conducting competitor research, design trend analysis, and inspiration gathering to inform creative concepts.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas for marketing campaigns, website improvements, and product experiences.
- Assist with usability testing by incorporating user feedback into design improvements where applicable.
- Organise and manage design files, creative assets, templates, and project documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Stay up to date with emerging design trends, technologies, software, and industry best practices.
- Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning by seeking feedback, refining skills, and continuously improving design quality.
Minimum Requirements:
- A qualification in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communication, UX/UI Design, or a related field (completed or currently in progress).
- Strong proficiency in digital design, with a portfolio showcasing creative and well-executed work across graphic design, illustration, animation, or UX/UI projects.
- A genuine passion for graphic design, animation, motion design, and user experience (UX/UI), with a desire to continuously develop these skills.
- Working knowledge of industry-standard design software, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.
- A basic understanding of UX/UI design principles, user-centred design, and user journey mapping.
- Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach design challenges from both a visual and user-focused perspective.
- The ability to work within established brand guidelines while producing creative, consistent, and high-quality design solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to receive feedback and continuously improve.
Advantageous:
- Experience with tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Canva, or similar design software
- Experience designing for eCommerce or landing pages
- Understanding of SEO and digital marketing
- Exposure to usability testing or analytics tools
