Overview

CRO Lead Jobs in Austin, TX at Growth Hacking LLC

About the Role

We’re a new conversion rate optimization division of a 20 year established brand, and we’re hiring the person who will own our entire testing engine. This is not a "run a few A/B tests when a client asks" job.

You will be the institutional memory of every experiment we ever run — what we tried, what won, what lost, and why. You will ship more tests in a month than most CRO teams ship in a quarter, because you’ll be using AI as a force multiplier on every part of the workflow.

If you’re the kind of person who already has Claude, GPT or Openclaw open in another tab while you’re reading session recordings, keep reading. If you think AI is "interesting but not ready," this isn’t your seat.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Run the experimentation program end-to-end for every client we onboard — hypothesis generation, prioritization, test design, QA, launch, analysis, and writeup
  • Own the experiment log — every test we run gets documented with hypothesis, variant, traffic, result, learning, and a tag system that lets us mine patterns across clients over time. This is the most valuable asset the agency will build, and it’s yours
  • Use AI to compress the workflow — generating hypotheses from heatmaps and session recordings, drafting variant copy at scale, clustering qualitative survey responses, summarizing test results into client-ready writeups
  • Build the testing playbooks that junior team members will eventually follow
  • Present results to clients in a way that makes them feel smarter, not lectured
  • Spot patterns across clients — what works in lead gen vs. ecommerce, what wins on mobile vs. desktop — and turn those into proprietary frameworks we can sell

What You Need to Have Done Before

  • 5+ years running conversion optimization or growth experimentation programs, ideally a mix of agency and in-house
  • Shipped at least 100 real A/B tests (not "we tested two button colors once")
  • Hands-on with the standard toolkit: GA4, VWO or Optimizely or Convert, Hotjar or Microsoft Clarity, and at least one analytics warehouse
  • Comfortable reading a statistical significance calculator and explaining why a test isn’t ready to call
  • A point of view on test prioritization frameworks (ICE, PIE, PXL — pick your fighter)

The AI-First Filter

This is the part most CRO candidates will fail, and that’s the point. We expect you to show up already doing some version of this:

  • Using Claude, GPT, or similar to generate test hypotheses from raw qualitative data (session recordings, support tickets, reviews, survey responses)
  • Drafting 20 headline variants in the time it used to take to draft 3
  • Building or using AI workflows to auto-tag and cluster customer feedback
  • Summarizing test results into client decks without writing them from scratch
  • Bonus points if you’ve built a custom GPT, Claude Project, or agent for any part of your CRO workflow

In your application, tell us one specific way you’ve used AI to make a test ship faster or a hypothesis get sharper. Generic answers get filed under "no."

What You Get

  • $120K–$150K base depending on experience
  • Performance bonus tied to tests shipped per quarter and documented client wins
  • A founder who will get out of your way and let you build the program your way
  • First-team-member equity conversation if it’s a fit
  • Direct access to our internal AI infrastructure and tooling — you won’t be fighting IT to use the tools you need

How to Apply

Send us:

  • A short note on the most surprising test result you’ve ever shipped — winner or loser, we don’t care, we care about the learning
  • The AI workflow answer from above
  • Your experiment log, test repository, or any artifact that proves you actually document what you ship

No cover letters. No "I’m a passionate self-starter." Show us the work.
